Fans first fell for Brett Goldstein when he debuted in the hit Apple TV comedy Ted Lasso as the rough-around-the-edges footballer Roy Kent. Over the show’s seasons, viewers watched his hardened heart soften before he eventually became a beloved character folks loved rooting for. Later, he left his mark on Shrinking, the Apple TV series that he both created and writes for, where he gives a compelling performance as Louis, the drunk driver who killed Jimmy’s wife. While it’s clear he’s nailed the comedy genre, he has less experience in the rom-com realm, but luckily for him, his new costar in his upcoming Netflix flick Office Romance just so happens to be Jennifer Lopez, whose resume is lined with some of our favorite laugh-out-loud love stories.
Lopez has appeared in hits including Maid in Manhattan (2002), The Wedding Planner (2001), The Back-Up Plan (2010) and countless others, and now, she’s ready to take the lead yet again. Here, read all about Office Romance. Plus, see what folks are saying about the undeniable chemistry between Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein.

What is ‘Office Romance’ about?
JLo stars as Jackie, the notoriously intense woman in charge of an airline. When Brett’s character, Daniel, a lawyer, enters the picture, the duo find themselves undeniably drawn to one another despite their standing within the company. As the duo spends more time together, their feelings grow deeper, threatening the careers they’ve both worked so hard to build.
Meet the star-studded ‘Office Romance’ cast
Joining Brett Goldstein and Jennifer Lopez are a handful of familiar faces we adore, including Betty Gilpin, Tony Hale, Edward James Olmos, Bradley Whitford and Amy Sedaris, but it’s the chemistry between the two leads of the Office Romance cast that has folks talking.
Are Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein dating? The truth behind the rumors
As the film’s premiere date approaches, Lopez and Goldstein have begun publicly promoting the movie, but all fans can focus on is the connection these two seem to share. For starters, Goldstein has long been an outward fan of Jennifer Lopez, and in a resurfaced clip of the actor from 2022, he commented on Lopez’s romantic reunion with her former partner Ben Affleck. “I believed that, one day, I would marry JLo, and after last night, I was like, ‘Maybe all hope is dead,'” he joked in the video. “So, I don’t know anymore. Love is love, but sometimes, they marry Ben Affleck.”
While he might have been fooling around, when he began writing Office Romance, there was only one woman he could think of to play the part of Jackie—and he essentially ended up writing the role with Jennifer Lopez in mind.
“We started asking ourselves who the best rom-com star is, and without hesitation, we both said JLo,” Goldstein recently told PEOPLE. “It’s easy to write a rom-com when you have JLo in mind. She’s the best at this stuff. We just wanted to write something funny and smart enough to be worthy of her saying yes.”

And while the story and part were enough to sell JLo, her instant chemistry with Goldstein solidified her decision, with the actress explaining how it only grew more and more over time. “I expected more of a rough guy, but you get this kind, gentle, but also very smart person that is so charming. That was a surprise, I think.”
Plus, during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen back in 2025, when asked who her favorite on-screen kiss was, she revealed that it was Goldstein, saying, “he was the best kisser.”
Despite the rumors, when appearing on TODAY on June 2, both JLo and Goldstein confirmed that they were not dating—though we’re still holding out hope that maybe one day down the line, these two link up!
When does ‘Office Romance’ start streaming on Netflix?
