Every Year After, based on Carley Fortune’s 2022 debut novel, Every Summer After, is set to premiere on June 10 and is a story that blends first love, heartbreak and second chances.

As her first time leading a series, Sadie Soverall has taken on the role of Every Year After‘s main character, Persephone “Percy” Fraser. Percy spent her childhood summers at a lake cottage in Barry’s Bay in Ontario, next door to the Florek brothers, Charlie and Sam. From a young age until her teens, Percy and Sam maintained a crush on one another as their friendship evolved into a relationship. But just ahead of high school graduation, a betrayal occurs between the two and they go their separate ways—until something brings them back together. 

When speaking about her character, Soverall shared, “There’s this kind of tragic element to a lot of great love stories, like not having the time to say what you need to say, or the time with someone that you want. I was really looking forward to showing that and the tragedy of it, but also the good moments.”

You may recognize the 24-year old actress from a few of her previous roles, including Fate: The Winx Saga (2021- 2022), Saltburn (2023), The Gathering (2024) and Finding Emily (2026).

Matt Cornett is about to be your next obsession as Sam Florek in Every Year After. Sam is the quintessential boy next door, the best friend and something more of Percy. 

If you’re looking to spot Cornett in some of his earlier work, you can catch the 27-year old actor in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (2019-2023), Zombies 3 (2022) and Summer of 69 (2025). He is also starring in the upcoming movie, Bad Counselors (2026). 

“I’ve done a lot of stuff with Disney, and they’re great, goofy, fun, silly and so awesome,” Cornett shared. “But I’ve never really gotten to do something where I had to tap into an emotional level of myself and Sam. I really am excited for people to see that different side of my abilities.”

Michael Bradway is taking on the role of the other Florek brother, Charlie, in Every Year After. If you’ve found yourself obsessing over the actor who portrays Charlie (sort of how you have with Off Campus‘ Garrett Graham), there are a few things you’ll discover about him. 

If you want to check out Bradway’s previous work, you can see him in Chicago Fire (2024-2025), Marked Men (2025) and Safe House (2025). Bradway is also engaged to fellow actor Veronica St. Clair.

Who is Patrick Wilson’s wife?

Patrick Wilson and his wife, Dagmara Domińczyk, have both been working actors since the early 2000s. Domińczyk made her film debut in Keeping the Faith (2000) and broke out with The Count of Monte Cristo (2002). Wilson has built his own acclaimed career across film, TV, and theater over the same era.

The two first met in the 1990s at Carnegie Mellon University, where Wilson was a senior and Domińczyk a freshman studying drama. After graduation, they went their separate ways and lost touch—only to reconnect years later at a 2004 alumni event. That reunion quickly turned into romance, and they married on June 18, 2005. Nearly two decades later, they’re still going strong.

About their family

Throughout their almost 21-year marriage, Wilson and Domińczyk have welcomed two children together, sons Kalin Patrick and Kassian McCarrell. Kalin or Kal, the almost 20-year old, was born on June 23, 2006 and is currently a model with DT Model Management. Kal also plays college football at Bowdoin College.

“There’s no pressure on set as actors can shoot the same scene multiple times,” Kal said. “I find the process is the same with fashion shoots.” Wilson then added, “From football player to fashion model, we are so proud of Kal for continuing to carve out his own path.”

Kassian, who was born on August 9, 2009, began following in his parent’s footsteps, appearing in Big Stone Gap (2014). As for how their parents feel about their kids being in the spotlight, both Wilson and Domińczyk are supportive of them.

“We’ve encouraged it—if they want to pursue any art: acting, theater, dance,” Domińczyk said of their children. “I feel like nowadays kids are so on their phones that…art is the last remaining way to connect with humans.”

The actors also have three dogs together—Mabel, Louise and Eddie Van Wilson—and often share about them on social media. Their third puppy, Eddie Van Wilson, was named after the late musician Eddie Van Halen, who is one of Wilson’s favorite singers.

First up is Dorothy Zbornak. Today, of course, it’s impossible to imagine anyone other than Bea Arthur playing Dorothy, particularly considering that her deadpan delivery, razor-sharp wit and ability to cut through nonsense with a single look became one of the defining elements of the series. Yet according to author Jim Colucci, whose book Golden Girls Forever remains one of the most detailed examinations of the sitcom ever written, Arthur very nearly passed on the role that would become one of the most beloved of her career.

“It’s funny, but when the first script was written, in the stage directions it described Dorothy as a ‘Bea Arthur type,'” Colucci recalled. “Not that it meant she was eager to sign on. Everybody remembers Bea, maybe through her agent, turning it down, because she had been burned by television. She had done that short-lived sitcom, Amanda’s By the Sea, and she was having personal problems. She just didn’t want to go back into the grind.”

Arthur herself remembered things somewhat differently. According to Colucci, she believed she learned about the project late in the process and only hesitated briefly. “She thought that Rue and Betty were going to be switched the way they were on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Maude, where Betty would be the man-hungry one and Rue would be the mousier one,” Colucci said. “She didn’t want to retread that same territory and Rue had to talk her into it, but that was only one beat where Bea remembers not wanting to do the show.”

Whatever the exact details, there was a moment when Arthur’s participation wasn’t guaranteed, leading series creator Susan Harris to consider another actress entirely. “Susan had her heart set on Bea,” Colucci explained, “but they did do a brief, disastrous audition with Elaine Stritch when it looked like they couldn’t get Bea and then eventually talked Bea into it.”

Years later, Stritch would famously joke about missing out on television history. “I blew it. I blew it. I didn’t get the job,” she admitted. “I blew a $35, $40 or maybe even $50,000 per episode job. I blew it. A multibillion-, zillion-dollar, international, syndicated residual-grabbing, bofferooni, smasherooni, television situation comedy titled The Golden Girls.”

Why we love Dorothy

Fortunately for television audiences, Arthur ultimately agreed and the result was Dorothy Zbornak, a character who anchored the series with intelligence, skepticism and a wonderfully dry sense of humor. Surrounded by Rose’s innocence, Blanche’s romantic adventures and Sophia’s nonstop wisecracks, Dorothy often served as the audience surrogate, reacting exactly as viewers might react to the chaos unfolding around her. In fact, these are some of the things that audiences love most about the character:

She always said what everyone else was thinking: Whether she was reacting to one of Rose’s St. Olaf stories or Sophia’s latest scheme, Dorothy often voiced exactly what viewers were thinking.

Her sarcasm was an art form: Dorothy could deliver a devastating one-liner with nothing more than a raised eyebrow and perfect timing. Few sitcom characters have ever wielded sarcasm so effectively.

She was the most grounded of the four: While Blanche chased romance, Rose lived in her own world, and Sophia stirred up trouble, Dorothy was usually the voice of reason, trying to keep everyone on track.

She was so intelligent: As a substitute teacher, Dorothy valued education, critical thinking and common sense. She rarely let nonsense go unchallenged.

She never backed down from a fight: Whether confronting a dishonest politician, a rude doctor or an unfair employer, Dorothy wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself—or for others.

Her relationship with Sophia was hilariously real:  The mother-daughter dynamic between Dorothy and Sophia felt authentic because it mixed love, frustration, embarrassment and loyalty in equal measure.

She had a big heart beneath the tough exterior: Dorothy often pretended to be cynical, but some of the show’s most emotional moments revealed just how deeply she cared about her friends and family.

She helped tackle serious issues: Through Dorothy, The Golden Girls addressed topics like ageism, chronic illness, divorce, healthcare and women’s rights with honesty and humor.

She was relatable: Unlike Blanche’s glamorous adventures or Rose’s often unbelievable stories, Dorothy’s struggles with work, relationships and self-confidence felt familiar to many viewers.

Her happy ending felt earned: After years of disappointments, bad dates and putting everyone else’s needs ahead of her own, Dorothy finding love and happiness in the series finale remains one of the most satisfying endings in sitcom history.

Meet the real Bea Arthur

According to Colucci, what we saw of Dorothy on screen actually contributed to one of the biggest misconceptions about Arthur herself. While researching Golden Girls Forever, he interviewed all of the cast members except Estelle Getty, whose declining health prevented an interview. Arthur, however, proved to be the most challenging to secure. “I was given by the Actors’ Guild what they called a reference number, which turned out to be Bea’s home phone number,” he recalled. “When I called and I got the answering machine that says, ‘I can’t come to the phone right now,’ I stammered my way through leaving a message. It was, like, ‘Oh my God, I’m leaving a message on Bea Arthur’s machine.’ I managed to stammer out that I wanted to talk to her and she initially kept turning me down, because she said it wasn’t the happiest time in her life and she doesn’t like looking back.”

One memorable conversation came while Colucci was sitting in the Beverly Hills Public Library. “I’m having a phone call with Bea in the middle of the library and people are yelling at me to shut up and finally I just screamed at them, ‘F–k you, it’s Bea Arthur!’ That shut everybody up and Bea laughed.”

Eventually, Arthur agreed to the interview, but only under one condition. “She had made a pact with me that she’d do the interview if I stayed and had a drink with her.”

The experience left a lasting impression. “There are just moments where Bea Arthur’s got her bare foot up on the coffee table and you’re splitting a bottle of wine with her, making small talk, where you think, ‘This is surreal. I never thought this would happen as a fan.'”

Those hours together revealed something Colucci believes many people misunderstood: “People thought the way to interact with Bea was to be rough with her, because her characters were loud and tough and she was tall and she seemed tough. The irony is that it could not be further from the truth. Although she did have an imposing exterior, she was such a vulnerable mushball on the inside—if you recognized that and treated her kindly, but yet without BS, because she didn’t like BS and wouldn’t tolerate it. You just had to be a straight-shooter. That was the key to her heart.”

“I felt like, although even in the first hour of our interview she was kind of closed up, she really opened up to me by the end of three or four hours together. We ended up with a hug, which I hadn’t ended any of the others with. I felt like she had really shown me her true self and it was almost like making a friend over four hours, which doesn’t normally happen.”

Why did Dorothy leave ‘The Golden Girls’?

There were periods where Bea Arthur wanted to quit The Golden Girls, and while she would ultimately stay until the end of the show’s run, there was a great deal of pain along the way over the steady stream of jokes aimed at Dorothy’s appearance. According to Colucci, those jokes eventually reached a breaking point.

“She wanted out. She was sick of it,” he said, citing an incident that occurred during the fourth season. “It came to a head one time when she cried at a table read over jokes. It was brand new writers on the show and they were so excited for their first table read and they thought, ‘Oh, we’re going to get all these laughs.’ And it’s calling Bea ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly, and she started to cry. She walked out and said, ‘That’s it. I’m going to quit.'”

The reaction immediately got the attention of the show’s producers and writing staff. “At that moment, the writers and producers vowed, ‘Okay, no more Dorothy bashing. We’re going to cut back on all the ugly jokes on Bea because we’re going to lose her.’ It took four years for it to come to a head for her to finally … I mean, she probably let her displeasure be known in some more subtle ways, but she finally had to really break down over it.”

While we’re sure to see the Duttons shine plenty over the next few years, there’s a chance we’ll get to experience a new Yellowstone story—and it won’t be on TV. Last week, Paramount Skydance revealed their next move, and the major media corporation plans to dive into the world of video games through their latest venture, Paramount Game Studios. 

“This division launch marks a meaningful evolution in how we think about games–not as an extension of our business, but as a core pillar of our content strategy alongside film, television, and streaming,” said Tony Driscoll, the new president of Paramount Games Studio, per Variety. 

So does this mean a Yellowstone video game could be on the way? Here, we explore the possibilities. 

A Taylor Sheridan video game could be coming

At Summer Game Fest, Paramount revealed their plans to expand into video games, and in addition to their new games studio, they detailed an exciting collaboration with PlatinumGames, a Japanese game developer who have left a major mark on the industry. 

In conversation with Polygon, Shawn Kittelsen, who leads creative and production at the new Paramount Game Studios, opened up about what was to come—and it seems as though the works of Taylor Sheridan could be getting the video game treatment. 

“All of the Yellowstone and Yellowstone-adjacent titles, Landman, Tulsa King, these are all priorities for us,” he revealed. Though Kittelson shared that much of their development will revolve around popular titles like SpongeBob SquarePants, Star Trek, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there’s something to be said about the action and expertly crafted storylines of Taylor Sheridan’s series that can lend well to a video game narrative. 

While we wait for more details about when we might see a Taylor Sheridan Yellowstone video game, it’s heartwarming to know that the stories and characters we’ve come to love will continue to be part of our lives in new and exciting ways.

Mariska Hargitay looks back on her time on ‘Law & Order: SVU’ 

Before diving into Season 28, Hargitay took a moment to reflect on her remarkable Law & Order: SVU journey. Since the series premiered in 1999, she has been the face of one of television’s most enduring dramas, transforming Olivia Benson from a dedicated detective into a cultural icon. Along the way, Hargitay became one of TV’s highest-paid actresses, while Benson earned a place in television history as the longest-running primetime live-action character portrayed by the same actor. More than a quarter-century after SVU debuted, both the actress and the character remain as central to the franchise as ever.

“I love how we ended Season 27,” Hargitay, age 62, tells Woman’s World, “I thought we finished really strong, and I was so proud that after 27 years that our last episode was among the best of the episodes. We had a female director and producer named Brenna Malloy, and we have a female showrunner named Michele Fazekas. It is a very female-driven show right now, and I’m very proud of that—the leadership positions are all women.” 

The show wasn’t always that way, though. In fact, when Law & Order: SVU first hit the air in 1999, Hargitay was the only full-time female cast member. She also appeared second in the credits to her longtime co-star Meloni, who left the show in Season 12 (2011) before eventually returning for guest appearances in Seasons 22-24 and 26-27. 

“How did that happen?!” Hargitay jokes about the credit incident, before sharing some of her favorite Season 27 episodes. “There were four that I thought were particularly excellent, and then the finale was very meaningful to me.” 

For those unfamiliar with the show or who haven’t seen the finale yet, here’s a quick recap: Detective Jake Griffin (Corey Cott) survives a gunshot wound after apprehending a serial killer. Meanwhile, Captain Olivia Benson manages to save her job after Griffin records Chief of Detectives Kathryn Tynan (Noma Dumezweni) admitting she covered up a corrupt murder involving his father. Griffin gives the tape to Olivia, who uses it to blackmail Kathryn and secure her position. It’s a thrilling episode that left viewers needing a follow-up season as quickly as possible.

Mariska Hargitay teases Season 28 of ‘Law & Order: SVU’ 

Since the Season 27 finale aired less than a month ago, details on Season 28 do remain very limited. Even so, Hargitay did take the time to tease what viewers can expect, telling Woman’s World, “It’s going to be better than Season 27 and Season 27 was pretty great.”

As of publication, Season 28 doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but if the show follows the same pattern as before, it will most likely release on NBC and Peacock in the fall of this year.

Merritt Patterson dishes on ‘Meet Me in the Margins’

Merritt Patterson takes the lead on this film, and while some might feel added pressure bringing a beloved book to life on screen, the actress felt nothing but excitement. “This is the first book adaptation I’ve done with GAC, and having read Melissa Ferguson’s novel before filming, I was eager to see how the story would be brought to the screen,” she shared with Woman’s World. “I was particularly looking forward to seeing some of the interactions between Savannah and William and the locations come to life visually.”

As for the romance films that have inspired her over the years, Patterson shared, “Nora Ephron was such a defining voice in the genre. Her films—When Harry Met Sally, You’ve Got Mail, and Sleepless in Seattle—are timeless. I’ve also always loved Notting Hill, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Love Actually. There are honestly too many favorites; it’s hard to narrow them down.”

‘Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries’ cast has a special connection

Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries debuted back in April and on Thursday, June 11 at 9 p.m., you can see how the first season ends when the finale airs on UPtv. 

Season 1 of the series took viewers on unexpected journey after unexpected journey. Alongside Cheryl, fans got to know characters like Levi Miller and Naomi Miller, played by Kevin Joy (Galadriel Stineman’s real-life hubby!) and Denise Gossett, respectively. 

As for what it’s been like bringing this series to life side by side, Kevin Joy opened up about the experience in conversation with Take 2 Radio, saying, “We are so fortunate. We’ve done commercials together, we’ve done episodes of TV together, we’ve done other films together. It’s really fortunate that we’ve gotten the chance to work together so much.”

He continued to explain that while their job as actors often takes them away from one another, being able to settle in by each other’s side was special. 

“When you have a spouse and kids at home, it’s really hard to be gone for that long. So the fact that we’ve gotten to do a TV series where we were there for almost two and a half months filming—I got to have my wife with me, I got to have both of my kids with me on set every day.” He continued, “To get to go work and do what you love doing, but have the people that you love around you at all times, there’s kind of nothing to sacrifice. It’s the best of all of the world.”
