The ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ Cast We’re Hoping to See Return for Season 7—Here’s Why
Season 7 is filming now—here are the beloved characters we're predicting will be back in Darrowby
All Creatures Great and Small has drawn in endless amounts of fans over the last few years, and in a world full of chaos and constant movement, it’s the much-needed escape we all need after the end of a long day. The PBS Masterpiece series follows a vet working in the scenic Yorkshire Dales and chronicles his unique profession, the quirky characters he meets along the way and the heartfelt relationships that form over time in this quaint community. Though the show’s sixth season just finished airing, fans were ecstatic to learn that All Creatures Great and Small was renewed for both a seventh and eighth season—and PBS Masterpiece shared a post to social media revealing that Season 7 has already begun production! Though there haven’t been a ton of details revealed about the next season, based on the way Season 6 concluded, we can at least predict the familiar faces we are likely to see bring the next chapter to life. Here, take a look at the cast of All Creatures Great and Small that we expect to see in Season 7.
Nicholas Ralph as James Herriot
Nicholas Ralph brings the show’s lead character to life, so fans can definitely expect to see the actor back on the screen in All Creatures Great and Small Season 7. With James back in Darrowby and finding his post-war rhythm at the vet, things look hopeful for his next chapter in Season 7, and we can’t wait to see what it holds.
Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon
Samuel West is another actor we can expect to see return in Season 7. With the community finally settling, the vet pursued a bit of romance with Dorothy—but many have pointed out Mrs. Hall’s disappointment at seeing them together. Is there a love triangle on the horizon?
Anna Madeley as Mrs. Hall
Mrs. Hall has been a fixture on this series, the housekeeper at Skeldale House. At the start of Season 6, Mrs. Hall has returned from some time away, as she had left to care for her son who was injured in the war. Fans of the show know that she and Siegfried have long had a “will-they-won’t-they” vibe brewing between them, and her clear disappointment at his reunion with Dorothy set the scene for a potentially juicy Season 7.

Rachel Shenton as Helen
James’ wife Helen is sure to make her return in Season 7, and fans can expect to watch her continue to navigate motherhood and all that life in the Yorkshire Dales throws her way. While in Season 6 we watched her struggle as her sister Jenny embraced her freedom by moving to London, we hope that Helen finds her own sense of peace—or even adventure—despite her responsibility for her family.
Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon
In Season 6, Tristan returns from war, though it’s clear he isn’t the same person he was before as a result of all he has seen. Over the course of the season, we see him gradually open up about his service in an emotional way, showcasing immense depth for his character. On a brighter note, however, his romance with Charlotte begins to blossom, so we hope to see him embracing a new chapter in Season 7.

Tony Pitts as Richard Alderson
Helen and Jenny’s father, Richard, will likely appear in Season 7 as he plays an active role in the lives of his daughter Helen and her children. Additionally, Helen, James and their family live on Helen’s family farm, further allowing Richard to be in their lives in an important way.
Mollie Winnard as Maggie
Maggie is the local barmaid and therefore a central figure in the small town. In Season 6, we learn that she lost her husband in the war, and while she’s likely to return in Season 7, we hope to see her heal and find some peace with her son in the wake of her loss.
Patricia Hodge as Mrs. Pumphrey
Mrs. Pumphrey is the mother of beloved pup Tricki-Woo, and while she’s struggled in her own way as well, we hope Season 7 also holds a sense of peace for her.
Gaia Wise as Charlotte Beauvoir
A character newer to the series, Charlotte and Tristan form a unique bond, having both served in the war, that eventually turns romantic—and we hope to see what’s next for them in Season 7!
As we eagerly await Season 7 of All Creatures Great and Small, one thing is certain: this heartwarming series continues to remind us of the power of community, the beauty of simple moments and the comfort of coming home to the people (and animals!) we love.
