Everything We Know About the Never-Before-Seen Reagans Joining ‘Boston Blue’ in 2026
Find out what the creators had to say about the new characters coming to the 'Blue Bloods' spinoff for the second half of Season 1
There have only been nine episodes of Boston Blue so far and it’s already a top show on CBS, with a second season ordered in the middle of the first. The series, as it turned out, has been a consistent performer for the network thanks to the fanbase of the beloved original show, Blue Bloods. And now that the characters and storylines have been established, the Boston Blue creators are ready to give fans some new excitement.
Those creators, Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier, have shared that there will be new Reagan family members introduced in the upcoming Boston Blue episodes, which is exciting for fans of Blue Bloods as well. Both series are very family-focused, with family life a significant part of the plot, so meeting new relatives will tie into the first series.
Margolis shared, “We’re still a fairly new show, and so our world is still growing and expanding as we get deeper into the characters’ lives.”
Find out what the creators have said about the upcoming episodes and what fans can expect before its return in February.
Get ready to meet new Reagans

Blue Bloods, which ran for 14 years from 2010 until 2024, focused on the Reagan family, most of whom were involved in some sort of legal career. Now that Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) has moved to Boston to be closer to his son, Sean (Mika Amonsen), in Boston Blue, it’s been a long time since fans have seen other Reagan family members.
In the new series, the only other Reagan that has appeared so far was Danny’s sister, Erin (Bridget Moynahan), but the creators have said that others will be joining the show soon.
“We can tell you that Erin will not be the only one, but that’s all we’re allowed to say,” Sonnier noted, with Margolis adding, “There are new characters that will show up. We will meet more members of the Silver family, and we will see members of the Reagan family we have not yet seen.”
Where is Danny’s other son, Jack?
If you were a fan of Blue Bloods when it was on the air, you might remember that Danny has two sons: Sean and Jack. Although Boston Blue focuses on Sean’s new career as a Boston cop, the show creators don’t want you to forget about Jack, who is stationed in Africa as part of Doctors Without Borders.
“It’s a big deal that Jack is overseas and that he’s in medical school,” Sonnier said. “We never want to lose sight of the fact that Danny has two sons. Part of placing Jack so far away was logistical—it gives Danny the space to fully focus on Sean right now, because there’s not a lot he can do for Jack.”
What to expect in Season 1B

With the first half of the season coming to an explosive end in late December, fans have been left on the edge of their seats. The second half commences on Friday, February 27, leaving viewers waiting just a bit longer for some answers. However, the creators teased a bit of what everyone can expect, sharing that it will definitely be “exciting.”
Sonnier explained in a recent interview, “We now have a good handle on the characters we’ve introduced—drawing a full picture of who the Silver family is and how the Reagans have integrated into that family. Now that the groundwork has been laid, the second half of this season is just a full-on, exciting exploration of how these relationships grow. How does this family adapt to the environment that’s sort of changing around them as the Reagans have come in? The back half of this season has been some of the most exciting television that I’ve ever been a part of.”
