When news first broke that Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan was teaming up with country music greats Blake Shelton and Keith Urban for an all-new singing competition series, we thought it was almost too good to be true! Now, as the premiere grows closer and closer, we can hardly contain our excitement. This fall, 12 aspiring musicians hoping to make it big in country music will show their stuff on CBS’s The Road. Here, read all about the new series and get to know the 12 contestants that are ready to shine.
What is ‘The Road’ about?
Though some might argue that there’s such a thing as too many singing competition shows, when they revolve around country music and the mastermind behind the Yellowstone universe is involved, it’s hard to imagine it’ll be anything but stellar. On the debut season of this series, Keith Urban will act as the headlining musician, and the 12 contestants will try and prove themselves as his opening acts at a series of shows played across Texas, Oklahoma and Tennessee. But there’s more to it than just stepping on stage and singing a few songs—these contestants will see just how grueling touring is while they still are in the phase of proving themselves, and in addition to showing off their talent, it’s up to them to win over the crowds and fans in each city they visit. Gretchen Wilson will also join Urban on this journey as the tour manager.
Who is joining the cast of ‘The Road’?
The cast of The Road consists of 12 country music hopefuls ranging in age and origin, and in the end, only one participant will come out victorious, taking home a to-be-announced grand prize. Though these artists are hoping to make it to the big leagues, many already have built followings for themselves as they’ve grown their careers independently. Here, get to know the crew. Adam Sanders, 36
Adam, 36, is from Lake City, FL, and even in the early stages of his career, he’s built an Instagram following of over 40,000 fans!
Billie Jo Jones, 34
The same goes for Billie Jo Jones, the 34-year-old musician from Texas who has been releasing music for years.
Blaine Bailey, 23
Blaine, one of the younger contestants to join this show, hails from Tahlequah, OK.
Briana Adams, 30
Briana, 30, is from Winchester, TX. Based on her social media, the aspiring musician is often playing shows at venues throughout the state.
Britnee Kellogg, 40
Arizona girl Britnee, 40, also has a large following, with over 226K Instagram followers!
Cassidy Daniels, 25
Cassidy Daniels, 25, was born in North Carolina and raised in Kentucky.
Channing Wilson, 49
Channing Wilson, 49, is from Georgia, and back in 2023, he released a full-length album, Dead Man.
Cody Hibbard, 32
Cody, 32, is a singer-songwriter from Oklahoma.
Forrest McCurren, 35
Forrest McCurren, from Jefferson City, MO, also joins this crew.
Jenny Tolman, 29
Jenny Tolman, 29, is a Tennessee girl joining the contestants.
Jon Wood, 28
Jon Wood from Wake Forest, NC also makes his debut on this series.
Olivia Harms, 29
Olivia Harms, 29, daughter of country singer-songwriter Joni Harms, also hopes to leave her mark on this series.
