Viewers first got to know Sheriff Mickey Fox in the CBS hit Fire Country. Brought to life by Morena Baccarin, the actress portrayed the stepsister of Sharon Leone, played by Diane Farr. So beloved was Mickey in the gripping action drama that now, she’s set to lead a series of her own: Sheriff Country. While Sharon took to the fire division to serve others, Mickey turned to the sheriff’s department of her small town of Edgewater, California. Though the eccentric residents of her community are enough to occupy her days, her complex family dynamics, defined by her relationship with her dad and her troubled daughter, take up the rest of her time. Described as “a story of redemption, resilience and the power of community,” you won’t want to miss this all-new series hitting CBS on October 17. Morena Baccarin as Sheriff Mickey Fox

Baccarin found fame thanks to her role in the science fiction series Firefly, and after her breakout part, she continued building her resume. In 2005, she starred in the film continuation of Firefly, Serenity, and continued to play around in various genres. Over the years, she could be seen in Stargate SG-1, Heartland, V, Homeland, Gotham, The Endgame and The Flash. She also has appeared in the Deadpool films as Vanessa. 

As for her involvement in Sheriff Country, Baccarin said the executive producers and co-creators of the show “literally made me fall in love with this character,” in conversation with TV Guide. “In the first five minutes of the conversation, they pitched such a complicated, interesting, vulnerable, hard-a— woman that you just don’t see out there.”

Matt Lauria as Boone

Matt Lauria is bringing to life Mickey’s deputy and partner, who, despite being capable and good at his job, has a different approach to law enforcement than his counterpart. Aside from Sheriff Country, Lauria has acted in countless series over the years, including Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, Kingdom, CSI: Vegas and most recently, Duster.

W. Earl Brown as Wes Fox

W. Earl Brown brings to life the complicated figure of Wes Fox, Mickey’s father, who lives on the outskirts of Edgewater, where he grows marijuana—a point of contention between him and his daughter. W. Earl Brown has appeared on screen in countless films and movies over the years, some of his more recent roles including Hacks, Fire Country and even Yellowstone. His most notable parts, however, include Deadwood and Preacher. 

Michele Weaver as Cassidy

Michele Weaver brings Cassidy to life, a fellow deputy who looks up to Mickey and feels inspired by her to join the force in the first place. You may recognize her from roles in Council of Dads, Briarpatch, Love Is_ or even Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings. 

Christopher Gorham as Travis

Gorham brings to life Travis, Mickey’s ex-husband. Though no longer together, their troubled daughter remains the tie that keeps these two in each other’s lives. Outside of Sheriff Country, you’ve probably seen this actor in shows like Covert Affairs, Ugly Betty, Insatiable, The Lincoln Lawyer, and more recently, Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage and Matlock.
