The heart-racing series The Night Agent, along with actor Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), is returning to Netflix in early 2026, promising to bring back the thrills as well.

The binge-worthy legal drama originally followed Peter, a low-level FBI agent working in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that hardly ever rang—until the night that it did. After answering an emergency call, Peter found himself at the center of a deadly conspiracy reaching the highest levels of government. In Season 2, his world became even more perilous as he went AWOL to protect Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), facing new threats and uncovering bigger secrets that kept viewers glued to every twist.

Now, with Season 3 about to drop, learn more about what’s next for the plot, release date, cast and which character won’t be returning to the show.

‘The Night Agent’ Season 3: Everything we know so far

As the third season approaches, fans of The Night Agent have been eagerly waiting to find out what Peter’s next mission will be. After spending the first year keeping Rose Larkin safe and going off the map in Season 2, Peter has another crazy season ahead of him.

The official logline reads: “Coming off the explosive events of Season 2, Night Agent Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees—and get them both killed in the process.”

With each season of The Night Agent following a different mission with different characters, the stars change, too. For the first two seasons, the only series regulars were Peter and Rose, but the cast is shuffling up yet again for the third season.

After starring in the first and second seasons, with much of the storyline revolving around her character, Luciane Buchanan’s Rose will not be starring in the upcoming episodes so that the storyline can focus more on Peter’s development.

Buchanan shared, “As much as that show has been so amazing, especially for my career — being a lead on a U.S. show from little New Zealand was such a whirlwind — the writers decided that they wanted to follow Peter and his journey based on what happened at the end of Season 2. And so, we don’t get to see what happens to Rose, but I think it’s a really exciting time for the show and, who knows, it’s not a goodbye forever.”

The cast for the third season will include Basso as Peter, Louis Herthum as Jacob Monroe, Stephen Moyer as The Father, Callum Vinson, David Lyons as Adam, Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington, Jennifer Morrison as the First Lady, Albert Jones as Aiden Mosley, Ward Horton as President Richard Hagan and Genesis Rodriguez as Isabel.

Moyer, who you may remember as Bill Compton on True Blood, was an exciting addition to the cast, according to show creator Shawn Ryan.

Someone like Stephen Moyer came in with an audition that just knocked our socks off,” Ryan said. “We just had a Zoom call with him the other day, talking about things, and as writers, we left that room just so excited that he’s going to play that role and excited to do a little rewriting of some of this stuff based on what we talked about.”

When does ‘The Night Agent’ Season 3 premiere on Netflix?

The Night Agent became an instant global hit on its release in 2023 and again in 2025 with Season 2, with both seasons hitting #1 on the Netflix charts. And that trend will likely continue with the third season.

Season 3, which comprises 10 episodes, is set to drop on February 19, 2026—only on Netflix. All of the episodes are expected to be released at once. We’ll be sure to tune in!
