Flame-grilled burgers are certainly a summer staple! Luckily, you don’t have to shell out to enjoy one for yourself—Burger King is making it easier to snag one at no cost. The fast-food restaurant is currently offering some customers a great, limited-time discount on one of its iconic items. Keep reading to find out if you could take advantage of the Burger King free Whopper deal, and how to redeem the offer. Plus, learn how you can invent your own Whopper!

What is Burger King’s free Whopper deal?

For a limited time only, anyone who is a member of both Burger King’s Royal Perks and Walmart+ can enjoy a Whopper free of charge! This classic burger is a quarter-pound, flame-grilled beef patty topped with tomatoes, lettuce, ketchup, mayonnaise, pickles and white onions–all on a toasted sesame seed bun. It’s the chain restaurant’s most iconic menu option, so it’s no surprise that it’s the choice for a giveaway.

The deal may seem a bit out of the blue, but it’s being offered to mark the first anniversary of Walmart and Burger King’s very first joint promotion, reports USA Today. Last summer, Walmart+ members got to enjoy a great perk: 25 percent off daily on any Burger King digital order and a free Whopper every three months with another purchase.

While this new offer isn’t quite as substantial, it’s still a fun freebie for loyal customers!

Who qualifies for a free Whopper offer?

In order to enjoy the tasty deal, you first have to be a member of the Royal Perks program and Walmart+. The BK rewards program is free to join, so it’s a great time to sign up if you haven’t already done so! It will also allow you to earn “crowns” on purchases (which lead to free items) long after the deal has ended.

Another caveat: You do have to spend $1 first to get the free Whopper, and there’s a limit of one per account each day. According to AllRecipes.com, the burger does have to be an original Whopper and not one of the chain’s other varieties or sandwiches.

Ready to get your hands on a free Whopper? You’ll first have to link your accounts together. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Ensure both the Walmart app and the Burger King app are downloaded on your device.
  2. Sign in to the Walmart app or website, then select “Account.”
  3. Choose “Walmart+ Membership.”
  4. Locate the Burger King savings perk and choose “Get started.”
  5. The Burger King app will open on its own, and you can select “Link accounts.”

You will need to find the daily, six-digit “My Code” from your Burger King account before placing any orders in-store, on the Burger King website or in the app. (Note: You’ll also have to activate the deal in the “Offers” tab before ordering online).

The limited-time deal is only available until August 11,  so don’t hesitate to take advantage of it if you’re craving a Whopper!

What’s new on the Burger King menu this summer?

The popular fast-food chain has also been enticing customers this summer with a number of new additions to its menu. One of the most noticeable changes has been a slate of new drink options like Strawberry Lemonade and Mango Peach Lemonade. The restaurant also expanded the Iced Coffee Cold Foam options to Vanilla, Mocha, Plain and Black.

On the food side, a new burger joined the line-up: the BBQ Brisket Whooper. The hefty burger, which came out in July,  features slow-cooked BBQ brisket, onions, American cheese and BBQ sauce alongside traditional toppings like lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise.

If this doesn’t sound appealing to you, Burger King wants to hear what you would prefer. Head to the Whopper By You page to invent your own Whopper and unlock a surprise deal. You could see your burger creation hit the menu someday!
