In 1938, the Salvation Army established the first National Donut Day in Chicago as a tribute to the women (called “Doughnut Lassies”) who served donuts and other goodies to soldiers during World War I. Since then, the tasty holiday has expanded and is now celebrated around the country on the first Friday of June. To mark the occasion, many popular chain donut shops and restaurants want to give everyone a chance to enjoy a tasty treat. Keep reading to find out what deals are available this year so you can celebrate National Donut Day for less!
7-Eleven
In honor of the holiday, rewards members (part of the 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards programs) will be able to get a classic glazed donut for just $0.50. This deal also applies at Speedway and Stripes stores. If you miss the holiday, you can still snag a donut for $1 until June 24.
Dapper Doughnuts
This growing chain, which boasts it “creates irresistible mini-doughnuts, to order” is offering a buy-one-get-one deal. You can enjoy a free 6-pack of powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar donuts with any purchase. Even better news: The deal is available June 6-8.
Doughnut Plant
Donut lovers who live in the New York City area may want to swing by one of the Doughnut Plant’s locations on June 6. To celebrate, they are selling special edition Strawberry Shortcake mini donuts (a 4-pack) for $10. You can try these for yourself via pickup or delivery.
Duck Donuts
Stop into one of these chain stores to score a freebie: a cinnamon sugar donut. You must visit one of the locations in person to enjoy the giveaway!
Dunkin’
When you buy a beverage on National Donut Day via the app or in-store, you can get one of their donuts free of charge! A fun option to try: the Orange N’ Vanilla Specialty Donuts. “A taste of summer nostalgia, the glazed cake donut is topped with a smooth vanilla flavored icing drizzle and available for a limited time,” the chain has said, according to EatThis.com.
Honey Dew Donuts
Like Dunkin’, the Massachusetts-based chain will give customers a free donut with the purchase of a medium drink. Choose from delicious options like their Apple Cider Donut, Butternut Donut, Honey Dew Donut, Lemon Filled Donut and more.
Krispy Kreme
On June 6, you can get a free donut (any kind) at your local Krispy Kreme with no purchase necessary! The chain also has another deal: a $2 Original Glazed Donut with the purchase of any dozen donuts at the regular price. (Available for in-store or drive-thru).
LaMar’s Donuts & Coffee
The chain, which says it has been “perfecting the donut since 1933” wants to treat its customers yet again this year. Enjoy a Ray’s Original Glazed Donut—on the house!
Legendary Doughnuts
Early birds won’t want to hesitate to get to their nearest Legendary Doughnuts spot on the holiday. Each location is offering a free doughnut card to the first 50 customers who show up. You’ll also have a chance to enter a raffle to win a free dozen donuts each month for a year.
Maverick and Kum & Go
If you’re a rewards member for either chain, you can get 50 percent off all donuts—with no limit! Maverik Nitro cardholders can also get a free donut on June 6.
Paris Baguette
Enjoy a free small Twisted Donut or Sugar Mochi Donut on the holiday as long as you’re a PB Rewards member. (Tip: You can join the program for free via the app!)
Sheetz
Celebrate National Donut Day at a Sheetz near you by scoring a free donut when you purchase a bottled drink, fountain drink or coffee. You do need to use the in-app promotion and there’s a limit of one freebie per person. If you can’t get to Sheetz on the holiday, the offer is valid through June 10.
Shipley Do-Nuts
The doughnut company and coffee house chain is treating customers to a free glazed Do-Nut with any purchase on National Donut Day. There are also chances to get free donuts on the other Fridays through June via other promotions.
Stan’s Donuts
Calling all Chicago-area residents! If you head to one of these shops on June 6 you’ll receive a free Chocolate Dipped Donut with any purchase of at least $2.30. A fun surprise: Any guest who receives a pink donut will win free donuts for a year!
Tim Hortons
When you purchase any beverage here, you can treat yourself to a free donut through June 8. You do have to activate the in-app offer for the freebie, but it can be used once per account every 30 minutes.
Voodoo Doughnut
Customers who buy a $10 Pink Raised Glazed dozen on National Donut Day can get a free donut of choice. Try any of their creative options like Banana Cream Pie, Mango Tango, Cherry Cola and Churro Cheesecake.
