Frankenstein Cookies

We used icing, M&M’s and ghoulish green frosting to turn ordinary storebought cookies into monstrously good treats.

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz.) can vanilla frosting
  • Green and yellow liquid food coloring
  • 12 (12½”x 1½”) store-bought cookies, such as Lu Petit Beurre
  • 2 (4.25 oz.) tubes black decorating icing fitted with writing tips
  • Black decorating sugar
  • 24 red M&M’s or Skittles candies
  • 12 Tootsie Roll Midgees, halved

Instructions

  1. Tint frosting lime green with food colorings; transfer 2 Tbs. to plastic sandwich bag. Snip tiny hole in one corner of bag; reserve. Thinly spread some of remaining frosting over flat side of each cookie.
  2. Using decorating icing, pipe hair onto cookies. Sprinkle hair with sugar. For forehead, pipe line of green frosting under hair. For eyes, place M&M’s near forehead; pipe on dots of green frosting; add icing for pupils. Using icing, pipe on face outline, nose, mouth, stitches and chin detail. For neck bolts, attach Tootsie Roll pieces.
