Our Blue Cheese Stuffed Burgers Recipe Takes Burger Night to Gourmet Heights

You can also cook these patties in a skillet on the stovetop

Calling all burger lovers! Take your next barbecue to the next level with our decadent blue cheese stuffed burgers recipe. You’ll find a delightful surprise inside these juicy patties: a creamy layer of blue cheese. Plus, it takes just 20 minutes to cook on the grill. But if you prefer the stovetop, this recipe cooks the same in a skillet over medium-high heat (learn Alton Brown’s stovetop burger trick).

We have a tip for making this blue cheese stuffed burgers recipe extra melty: Crumble the blue cheese before stuffing and chill your patties slightly before grilling. This ensures even cooking and prevents the cheese from leaking out. You can also garnish your burgers with your favorite toppings! We use tomatoes, lettuce, onion and mayonnaise, but feel free to swap them out — or add some crispy bacon for extra yum. Tell us your burger must-haves below! Cook Time

  • 2 lbs. ground beef chuck
  • 1 Tbs. minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp. Creole seasoning, such as Emeril's
  • 8 oz. blue cheese
  • 4 large whole-wheat buns, split in half
  • Diced tomatoes, romaine, sliced onions and green peppercorn mayonnaise (optional)

Prepare grill for medium-high direct-heat cooking. In bowl, gently mix beef, garlic, salt, pepper and seasoning. Divide into 8 equal patties.

In a separate bowl, crumble cheese and form into 4 equal patties. Place 1 cheese patty on each of 4 beef patties. Top with remaining beef patties, pinching edges to seal. Grill patties, flipping once, 2–3 min. per side for medium-rare or to desired doneness. Place buns on grill, cut side down; cook until warmed through, about 30 sec. Place patties in buns. Garnish as desired.
