How Jane Seymour Maintains Her Ageless Beauty at 68
Even though it’s been more than 20 years since we last saw Jane Seymour in her iconic role on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, the actress hasn’t seemed to age a day. She recently opened up about how those good looks can sometimes work against her when it comes to nabbing roles.
The 68-year-old told Hello! magazine that she has to convince producers she can play “old and gnarly” characters despite what they might see on her social media platforms. “They said they checked my Instagram and I look too young,” she revealed. As far as problems go, looking youthful is definitely not the worst thing in the world, but we can see how it’d cause some issues in her career.

Luckily, she was able to sway the crew behind Netflix’s The Kominsky Method to cast her in the upcoming second season, which premieres on October 25. Seymour joked, “I’ll take all my makeup off and they’ll see I can do ‘old’ quite well!”
But how does she maintain her ageless beauty? One step is avoiding junk food. “I try to stay away from sugar and fried food,” she said. “I very rarely eat meat. I eat what I grow in my garden. Fresh fruits and vegetables are my favorite thing in the world.”
When Seymour feels like indulging on a “naughty night,” she goes for a handful of pistachios, a couple pieces of very dark chocolate, and a glass of wine. “And I do have an addiction to Maltesers,” she admitted, referring to the British chocolate candy similar to Whoppers. It’s always refreshing to hear a beautiful celeb own up to having a real sweet tooth. Living far from the UK in California helps her keep the “addiction” from going overboard, even when friends send her packages with the candy. “Thankfully, they never travel well.”
Seymour also relies on regular exercise from pilates, walking, and light weight-lifting to keep her in age-defying shape. She also embraces a mindset she wishes she had when she was younger. “Inside, I’m 20 years old,” she said. “I was way too serious when I was that age. I’ve found my 20-year-old alter ego, it just happens to be in this body!” Hey, we would be thrilled to have her figure at any age!
The actress’ good looks were so renowned that one of her Kominsky Method co-stars didn’t even recognize her when she showed up in costume. “I wear a short gray wig and I look so different that Michael Douglas didn’t recognize me. He said: ‘Hello, my name’s Michael,’ and I replied, ‘I know — it’s Jane, and you’ve known me for 40 years!’”
We’re sure she still looks gorgeous with the wig on, and we’ll definitely be tuning in to see what else she and the rest of the comedy show have in store for their second season.
