Megan Sanov Makes Acting Debut With Mom Alison Sweeney, 49, in Hallmark’s New Film
Alison Sweeney’s latest Hallmark love story comes with a sweet real-life twist—her daughter
It’s been decades since Alison Sweeney first appeared on screens, stealing hearts with her performance as Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives, and since her 1987 debut on the hit soap, her resume has grown longer and longer. In recent years, she’s found a home on the Hallmark Channel, beloved for her work in the mystery sphere. In the Chronicle Mysteries series, she brought podcaster and sleuth Alex McPherson to life alongside Benjamin Ayres. She’s also beloved on the network for her role as crime solver Hannah Swensen, some of her most celebrated films within this series including Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery (2023), Sweet Revenge: A Hannah Swensen Mystery (2021) and most recently, Sugar & Vice: A Hannah Swensen Mystery (2026). While viewers love seeing her crack the case within each of these films, she’s also shined brightly in the romance realm—a genre that Hallmark is known for.
The most recent love story she’s brought to life on the network was Romance at Hope Ranch (2026), where she led alongside Gabriel Hogan—though it was another one of her costars that made this one extra special. In this film, Alison Sweeney was lucky enough to act alongside her daughter, Megan Sanov, 17, also known as Megan Sweeney. Here, read all about the film, what the Hallmark star said about the experience and where you can see Megan shine outside of the movie.
Inside the emotional mother-daughter scenes in ‘Romance at Hope Ranch’
Romance at Hope Ranch debuted earlier in the year and followed Hope Morgan, brought to life by Sweeney. In the film, Hope is finally chasing her childhood dream of running a ranch in a new era of her life while also bringing new life to the Giddy Up Gala. Simultaneously, sparks fly with Jack (Gabriel Hogan), an old flame. Sweeney, who also executive-produced the film, was lucky enough to star alongside her 17-year-old daughter Megan, the two playing a mother-daughter duo on screen as well, and for both of these ladies, it was an experience they cherished.
“I’ve always been inspired by my mom’s dedication to her acting career, and I wanted to make her proud since she offered me a role in her movie,” Megan told People. “At first, I was incredibly nervous because I’d never acted in front of the camera before and wanted to be perfect for her.”

For Alison, the experience was special for many reasons, one of them being the way the film mirrored her real life. “I was surprised by how sincere and sweet the first scene was between Megan and me, when my character, Hope, drops her daughter off at college. I had initially approached it purely from an actor’s perspective, but once we were filming together, the reality of the moment really hit me because of how soon I’ll be dealing with that with Megan in our real lives.”
Will Megan Sanov follow Alison Sweeney into professional acting?
Sweeney welcomed her daughter, Megan, back in 2009 with her husband, Dave Sanov, whom she’s been married to since 2000. Megan has largely stayed out of the limelight aside from accompanying her mom to events over the years, and while she’s enjoyed theater at school, her parents chose to keep her away from the bright lights of Hollywood.
“When this opportunity came up, I very casually mentioned it to her, like, you don’t have to do this, but if you’re interested. And she jumped at the chance,” Sweeney told Komo News. “She had a great experience, but she hasn’t made any decisions yet for her future, which I think is wise.”
Whether Megan chooses to follow in her mother’s footsteps or forge her own unique path, one thing is certain—she’s got a wonderful role model showing her that with dedication and heart, dreams really do come true.
