Luke Bryan and His Wife Caroline: How They Met, Raised a Family and Kept the Romance Alive 18 Years
This country superstar first met his wife at a college bar in Georgia!
You can’t tune into the country station without hearing a Luke Bryan hit. From songs like “Buy Dirt” and “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” to “That’s My Kind of Night” and “Play It Again,” the country star’s music has been the soundtrack to countless summer days and nights, and in addition to being a talented musician, he’s a doting husband and father of two. When he isn’t occupied by his music or his gig as a judge on American Idol, the 48-year-old Georgia native is kept busy by his lovely family, and here, we pull the curtain back on his happy marriage to his college sweetheart, Caroline Bryan. Get to know this adorable couple!
Luke and Caroline Bryan: The early days of their love story
Both attending Georgia Southern University, this pair first locked eyes in a place that’s as romantic as they come: a college bar. “We were both going to college, and it was a total deal where I saw her in the bar and kind of made my way over there, told my stupid little one-liners, and here we are 18 and a half years later,” he shared with Jennifer Hudson on The Jennifer Hudson Show.

It was love at first sight for Luke, as the singer told The Boot, “It took me eight seconds to figure it out.” Their on-again-off-again relationship throughout college fizzled by the time he had graduated. Caroline, three years his junior, continued her college journey while Luke went off to Nashville to pursue music—but fast forward about six years and the spark would be reignited.
“I was playing a little bar in Statesboro and she just happened to kinda be in town,” he told HuffPost in 2017. “We kinda saw each other and talked a little bit and then started emailing back and forth a little bit. And she was like, ‘Hey, you want to come to my family’s Christmas party?’ I went to the party and the rest is history.”
Do Luke and Caroline Bryan have kids?
Tying the knot in 2006, Luke and Caroline eventually welcomed two sons, Thomas “Bo” and Tatum. In 2014, Luke and Caroline took in their nephew, Tilden. Tilden and his two sisters tragically lost their mother a few years prior, and when their dad passed seven years later, the couple stepped in. Tilden began living with them full-time, but the pair also stepped in to help raise his two sisters.
“Obviously my nieces and nephew, they didn’t ask for this,” Bryan told People. “Their life was amazing before Caroline and I took a more prominent role, even after losing their mother. Now my focus is trying to do what we can to help them.” He continued, “I think with everything that’s happened in my family, I just have to lean on my faith and the understanding that God has a plan for all of us. We just wake up every day and do our best.”

How Luke and Caroline Bryan make it work
With a house full of boys and a certainly busy schedule, prioritizing their marriage takes work—but it’s work the pair are willing to put in. “I think every married couple kinda goes through that, to where the kids are really the focal point of everything going on,” Bryan told Taste of Country. “Sometimes Caroline and I will really have to force ourselves to sit down and book a trip without the kids.”
Wishing these two nothing but the best!
