‘Wait—Yancy Has a Wife?’ All the ‘Ransom Canyon’ Questions We Need Answered in Season 2
Will Quinn leave for New York? Who is Yancy’s wife? We need answers—and soon!
If you happened to binge Ransom Canyon this past weekend with the rest of the world, then it’s likely that you finished the show’s debut season with a handful of questions. While Netflix has yet to confirm whether or not the show will return for a second season, fans are crossing their fingers that for the sake of all their burning questions being answered, Staten, Quinn and the characters we grew to love will be making their return. The first season of Ransom was certainly chock-full of drama, steamy romance and mystery, and while the show gradually revealed the answers to some of our burning questions, there are a few areas in which we’re still wondering how this story could go. Here, check out some of our biggest unanswered questions.
What’s going to happen between Staten and Quinn?
For much of the season, Quinn’s relationship with Davis Collins made her and Staten a will-they-won’t-they situation. However, as the series concluded, she bit the bullet and ended things with the owner of the Bar W Ranch. Though it looked as though it was smooth sailing for her and the hunky cowboy portrayed by Josh Duhamel, when she revealed to him her plans to move to New York for a few months, things took a turn—and now, this duo seem to be back at square one.
“He has a very knee-jerk reaction to the news that she’s going back,” said show creator April Blair to Entertainment Weekly. “He’s coming from a place of loss and pain, and we aren’t always our best selves in those moments. Could he have handled the news better? Been more supportive? Of course. But he’s the architect of his own pain in a lot of ways.”
Yancy Grey has a wife?!

The bombshell of all bombshells, Yancy Grey’s wife showing up at the dance hall looking for him after he had just proposed to Ellie was a plot twist we did not see coming. The ex-con with a shady past showed quite a bit of character development throughout the season and convinced both viewers and the people he met in Ransom not to let his past define him—but it looks as though the goodwill he built for himself came crashing when his former flame showed up on the scene.
And is he fully ready to commit to being good?
While Yancy made the decision to hold on to Cap’s ranch rather than sell it for the large sum of money he could get for it, it seems as though he’s grown significantly from the man we were first introduced to. Though the arrival of his wife makes things complicated, it’s our guess that there’s more to the story that will hopefully be revealed in a second season. “He becomes the protector of that place, and of Cap’s legacy moving forward, and becomes someone who puts someone else before him,” April Blair told Tudum. “I think that’s a big change for him in his heart.”
What happens now that Margaret Brigman is arrested?

The arrest of Lauren’s mom and the sheriff’s wife for her involvement in Randall’s death was a shock, and in a small town like Ransom, news like that could only mean chatter. How will this going public affect Lauren? Lucas? Even the sheriff? We’re itching to see how it unfolds.
Davis and Staten’s father are now in cahoots—so what’s next?
At the end of the season, Davis and Staten’s father are seen in a car together, and it’s clear that they both have the same end goal of gaining control of the Double K Ranch. As for what’s in store, Blair tells Entertainment Weekly, “A whole lot of trouble. They’ve goaded him to that punch. He’s walked right into their trap. And there will be deep consequences.” We sure are crossing our fingers that these questions get answered!
