Alex Drummond’s Baby Sofia and Pup George Are Already Besties—Watch Their Sweetest Moment Yet!
George wanted to play fetch with his baby sibling in an adorable vid shared to Instagram!
When it comes to baby Sofia, granddaughter of Ree Drummond and daughter of Alex Drummond, it’s safe to say that she’s captured the hearts of just about every member of her family—and that applies to her non-human counterparts as well! Before there was baby Sofia, Alex and her husband Mauricio were Mom and Dad to a fur baby; their adorable pup, George. The sweet-as-pie golden retriever has been bringing joy to the couple’s lives for years, and he was by his parents’ side every step of their pregnancy—he even played an important part in their gender reveal! Now that little Sofia has become an integral member of their family unit, the adorable pup has shown that he’s just as excited about Sofia’s arrival—and like any older sibling, he’s itching for the day when she can finally play with him!
In a video Alex shared to her Instagram story over the weekend, the golden pooch tried his very best to engage his new baby sister in a game of fetch—but Sofia didn’t seem too interested! While the baby sat comfortably in her bouncer sporting a green onesie, her puppy companion dropped a ball near her lap in the hopes that she’d play a game of fetch with him! “Is your brother bringing you the ball?” Alex asked her bundle of joy while she recorded the interaction. “Georgie, did you bring Sofia the ball? She can’t play fetch with you yet, she’s just a baby!”
George and Sofia: best friends for life
While little Sofia might not be big enough to toss a ball around with George or run around with the pup, the lives of these two have been interwoven from the start! Back when Alex announced her pregnancy on Instagram, she shared a few adorable photos of her and her husband holding the ultrasound photos of their soon-to-be bundle of joy, but not without sweet George sitting beside them looking happy as can be at the prospect of his new playmate!
The puppy even helped out in the video they shared to social media announcing that they’d be welcoming a little baby girl! In it, Mauricio fed George a cupcake, with the color in the middle indicating whether they’d be welcoming a little boy or little girl! While their first attempt didn’t quite work out as the results were unclear, George’s sweet, gentle bite on the second attempt made for the perfect moment, and we loved seeing their fur baby being part of this special moment! “Hopefully George loves his little sister half as much as he loved those cupcakes!,” Alex wrote in the caption.
In another adorable snapshot Alex shared of George anticipating Sofia’s arrival, she showed how the dog chose to be involved in the pre-baby prep—and had viewers totally obsessed! “POV: Your dog has to be involved and inspect every baby gadget you open,” Alex wrote over a video of George intently watching Mauricio assemble something. “Oh! George, you are too cute! He will be the best big brother,” wrote one user. “He is snoopervising! Our dog is the same, I tell him he is just nosy, but it’s rather funny!,” shared another.
