‘These Girls, We’re All For Each Other’: Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood On Their Sweet Friendship
At her Hollywood star ceremony, Trisha Yearwood shared a touching story about Reba McEntire’s kindness
Early in your career or just starting out in a new industry, you never forget who was kind to you, especially when you needed it most, and country superstar Trisha Yearwood shared a heartwarming experience she had with Reba McEntire back when her career was just taking off. Just yesterday, the 60-year-old songstress, known for hits like “She’s In Love With the Boy,” “I’ll Still Love You More” and “Walkaway Joe,” was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Among her close friends and family in attendance was none other than fellow country star and actress Reba McEntire, and the relationship they share is one that is meaningful to the both of them.
Trisha looks back on early memories with Reba
While speaking at her ceremony, Yearwood fondly remembered an experience she had with McEntire at her first awards show. Sitting in her dressing room at the show, Trisha received a delivery of flowers from who she assumed was her mom and dad. Instead, she learned that Reba herself had sent them—a gesture that was all-too-meaningful to the country music newcomer.

“There’s a misconception that female artists in particular are always climbing at each other and trying to get at each other, but the truth is, we’re all cheering for each other and with each other,” said Trisha of Reba as well as Carly Pearce, who also joined the ceremony. “This is an example of that. These girls, from every generation of country music, we’re all for each other.”
Reba remembers what drew her to Trisha
Similar to Trisha, Reba also remembered one of her earliest memories with the singer, taking place at the afterparty of an award show many decades ago. As McEntire remembered it, she was immediately taken by Trisha due to the fact that she was sitting with her mom at the party. “I thought, ‘I love her already, she’s sittin’ with her mom,’ cause my mom and I were real close, just like you and your mom,” the singer said.

“Your dry sense of humor and wit won my heart…You were funny and the years just kept going by and we got to hang out and be with each other, we got to sing together and have dinners together,” Reba recalled, even thanking Yearwood for the help she’s lent her with her culinary skills.
Trisha Yearwood and Reba McEntire have built quite the friendship
Over the years, Trisha and Reba have collaborated many times. From Reba appearing on Trisha’s hit Food Network series, Trisha’s Southern Kitchen, to just the other day performing a duet at Opry 100: A Live Celebration, in which the two singers sang Reba’s hit, “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia,” in honor of 100 years of the Grand Ole Opry, these two are always in each other’s corner.

We love the support that these two country music icons have for one another, and we hope their love and collaborations last forever!
