Every Friday night for 14 seasons, fans were greeted with the familiar faces of the Reagan family—Tom Selleck’s Frank, Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny and Bridget Moynahan’s Erin—but once in a while, a few new faces would pop into the mix. Whether that be an old, reliable friend or a new foe, you can bet that the NYPD family knew quite a few New Yorkers.

From Everwood’s Treat Williams to Frasier’s Bebe Neuwirth, see which of your favorite celebrities have made a cameo in the beloved crime drama!

Treat Williams

Seeing this Hair star in the middle of New York City certainly was a treat! Treat Williams had a recurring role in Blue Bloods as Lenny Ross, the best friend of Police Commissioner Frank Reagan. Williams appeared in six episodes between 2016 and 2023, and when the actor died in 2023, they said a proper goodbye to him.

In the series, it was revealed that Ross had died of cancer, which he was diagnosed with in an earlier episode. Williams previously reflected on his time on the series.

I gotta tell you, what an honor,” Williams said of being able to join a family dinner. “Two hundred episodes, nobody ever ate dinner with the family but me, and I was really, really honored that day that they invited me to the table.”

Lori Loughlin

Lori Loughlin, best known for her role in Full House, appeared on two episodes of Blue Bloods. The actress starred as Grace Edwards, the wife of a police officer who was killed, in the 7th season. In response, she met with Frank in hopes of keeping her son out of the NYPD, fearful of the same thing happening to him.

Loughlin made a second appearance in 2024 as the same character, who was actively keeping Frank’s son, Danny, from receiving an award for his work as a detective.

Bebe Neuwirth

Bebe Neuwirth, best known for her role as Dr. Lilith Crane on Cheers, had a lengthy guest spot on Blue Bloods. From 2013 to 2019, Neuwirth starred as Kelly Peterson, the Inspector General who was often a foe to Frank. At the same time, the two characters had some serious chemistry, leaving fans wondering if there was something else going on.

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg made three separate appearances between 2016 and 2020 as Regina Thomas, City Council Speaker, who often squabbled with Frank over police policy and politics. Her character tended to rock the boat and faced off with the commissioner about hot topics like police brutality.

Jimmy Buffett

Singer Jimmy Buffett made a hilarious cameo in Blue Bloods as Dickie Delaney… and himself. The singer appeared in Season 12, Episode 11 as conman Dickie Delaney, who was assuming the identity of Jimmy Buffett to get away with different schemes. It was all capped off by an appearance of Buffett as Buffett, much to the audience’s delight. Tony Danza

Remember when the Taxi star made an appearance in season 12 of Blue Bloods? Tony Danza showed up for one episode of the drama as Lieutenant Raymond Moretti, a lifelong cop who is shot in a drive-by. But when Frank Reagan goes to check on his fellow officer, he discovers Moretti has been keeping a dangerous secret: that his son is involved with a gang.

Ed Asner

You might remember Ed Asner from his iconic role of Lou Grant in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the spin-off named after the character but he had an equally memorable appearance in Blue Bloods. The actor starred as Chuck Kennedy, a housebound senior citizen who becomes a victim of home invasion. Frank tries to help Chuck, who was instrumental in steering him off the wrong path by offering him a job in a movie theater.

Although Asner only appeared in one episode of season 10, his performance was praised by fans.
