After the events of Season 1—the horrific truck crash, Lena’s injury, Mae’s (Gloria Reuben) campaign for re-election for district attorney and Danny officially joining the Boston Police Department—a lot was left unresolved. While nothing has been officially confirmed in terms of a plot for Season 2, we are guaranteed to get some answers.

It’s likely there will be a deeper dive into Lena’s relationship with her birth father and half sister—both of whom she just met for the first time. Fans can also expect to get a glimpse into Mae’s complicated re-election process, which is certain to be made more difficult, thanks to her secret relationship with Judge Elijah Robinson. Plus, now that Danny is an official BPD member, fans will get to see him step into a leadership position throughout Season 2.

Will Tom Selleck return?

It’s the question on every Blue Bloods and Boston Blue fan’s mind: will Tom Selleck make an appearance in Boston Blue? While the actor himself has briefly commented on the subject and other stars have given their thoughts, it’s still uncertain whether he will reprise his character, Frank Reagan. Donnie Wahlberg, who starred as Selleck’s son in Blue Bloods, shared his thoughts on the matter.

[With] Tom [Selleck], when the time is right, I’m sure we’ll find something to do together [on the show],” Wahlberg explained. “Tom supported me doing this…But it will really depend on the timing, the situation and the script most of all. But we’ve had other members of the cast of Blue Bloods on. It’s been incredible…Of course, it would be lovely to have Tom. It would be wonderful. But when the time is right. Until then, onward.”

Be sure to tune into Season 2 of Boston Blue on Friday, October 9 on CBS or the next day on Paramount+!
