A beloved nostalgic look made a reappearance in an episode of Nobody Wants This season 2, and Hocus Pocus fans instantly recognized the costume from the 1993 film.

In “Anything Can Happen,” season 2 episode 6 of the hit Netflix series, Nobody Wants This, actress Stephanie Faracy, who portrays Lynn, the eccentric mother of Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Morgan (Justine Lupe) recreated her iconic Madonna-inspired costume from the film, bringing everyone back to 1993.

If you watched Hocus Pocus when it was released—or in the 32 years since—you might remember the iconic Halloween party where the Sandersen sisters put a spell on everyone, including Max (Omri Katz) and Dani’s (Thora Birch) parents. Faracy, who starred as their mom, Jenny Dennison, was one of the spellbound partygoers.

In the famous scene in Hocus Pocus, Faracy’s character was in a Madonna-esque look, featuring a red and gold cone bra, a red bodysuit, big earrings, a headset microphone and a high blonde ponytail. While she and her husband were dancing the night away, their kids were trying to fight off the trio of evil witches.

I loved dancing around, filling Madonna’s bra—it was the ultimate Halloween outfit at the time,” Faracy recalled in a previous interview from 2018. “It was the first prop I ever wanted to steal.”

While watching the second season of the series, which just dropped on Netflix on October 23, fans instantly clocked the look, recognizing it as one similar to the one in Hocus Pocus

In the episode, Faracy’s character wore a modernized, more amped up version of the Madonna costume. The new look is all-gold, featuring a gold corset, gold cone bra, gold hoop earrings, chunky gold necklaces, the headset microphone and, of course, the iconic high blonde ponytail.

Faracy wore the gold Madonna costume in the episode where the characters attended a Purim celebration, which Noah (Adam Brody) describes to Joanne as: “the celebration of Queen Esther who saved the Jews from this evil dude Haman’s plot to destroy them,” The party marked the first time the parents of couple met.

The history behind the look

Both looks from 1993 and 2025 were based on Madonna’s iconic Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra, which the singer wore during her 1990 Blond Ambition Tour. Gaultier originally made the design for his teddy bear, eventually making a version for the runway in 1983 for his Fall/Winter 1984 Barbès collection and later for Madonna.
