Real Housewives fans, we have some news that Andy Cohen may not approve of! The original New York housewives are coming back for a brand new show, and it won’t be on Bravo. That’s right, reality TV lovers, Luann de Lesseps (also known as Countess Luann), Ramona Singer and more are coming back to the small screen in a new show dedicated to the later years of their lives. To learn more about the show, including when you can expect to stream it, keep reading.

What we know about the new ‘Real Housewives of New York’ show

On Tuesday, February 3, Luann de Lesseps, Jill Zarin, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon and Sonja Morgan announced that they would be returning for a new reality show set in Palm Beach, Florida. It will be the first time they have worked on a show together since the early 2010s, and unlike the original Real Housewives of New York (RHONY), this one will be on E!, not Bravo.

“We’re thrilled to welcome reality TV royalty to E! for a reunion fans have been waiting for,” Val Boreland, the president of entertainment at Versant, which owns E!, said on Tuesday, per US Weekly. “The energy within this group has always been electric, and we’re excited to watch it unfold in a new chapter of life by the beach.”

Along with the show news, Versant shared that the show will be called The Golden Life and that it will focus on the “fan-favorite group of New Yorkers [who] are starting fresh together in the Sunshine State.”

“In this new ‘golden’ era of life, the longtime friends are thriving in and around Palm Beach with fabulous second homes and a bustling social scene,” the synopsis issued by E! explains. “With their signature humor and nonstop hijinks, the series will follow the group as they navigate dating, family and career milestones. Though skies are bright in Florida, unresolved drama looms as they reconnect after years of highs and lows.”

How does Andy Cohen feel about the housewives leaving Bravo?

As of publication, Cohen, who hosts the popular talk show, Watch What Happens Live, and serves as an executive producer on the Real Housewives franchise, hasn’t commented on the original New York housewives moving from Bravo to E!.

In the past, he has said he would love to revamp the New York Housewives franchise, which went through a major cast shakeup back in 2023.

“You know that we’re at a crossroads for RHONY, “ Cohen told Variety in March of 2023. “We’ve spent a lot of time figuring out where to go. And the plan that we’ve come up with, I think, is a real gift to the fans.”

“We are quite literally looking for who will be the new Real Housewives of New York City. And I think this represents a tremendous opportunity for a rebirth of the show. What we’re looking for is everything that makes a great Housewife: fun, opinionated, successful, aspirational women who represent a side of New York that we want to see more of,” he continued.

Currently the RHONY cast consists of Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank and Brynn Whitfield, all of whom have brought drama to our screens, just not in the same way as the original cast.

When does ‘The Golden Life’ premiere?

Currently, The Golden Life doesn’t have a release date, but it’s expected to start filming this spring, meaning that it could release later this year.
