Boy Steals Wind Chimes from Woman, Leaves Startling Note
Imagine finding your wind chimes gone. You’d be angry, right? Well, this is what happened to Chrissy Marie, of Lakewood, WA, but after getting an explanatory note, it turned out she didn’t get mad at all. Just the opposite.
Taped to her door was a note containing a $5 bill. The note was signed by someone named Jake, and it was obvious from the handwriting that the boy wasn’t that old. It said: “I am sorry that we stole your wind chimes. Our mom died and like butterflies so my sister took it and put it by our window. I am sorry this is only money I have. Please do not be mad, Jake.”
Marie, who’d lost her mom when she was 5, was sympathetic. As she told the local Fox news channel, she doesn’t condone the theft, but at least Jake was trying to do the right thing. And she has another message for Jake and his sister. She wants to return the money. Plus, she has two other butterfly wind chimes and wants to give one of them to the kids, so Jake and his sister can each have a butterfly to remember their mom by.
Let’s hope Jake or his sister hear this inspiring story and know that all is forgiven.
