Dylan's Candy, a candy store that houses more than 7,000 confections, geared up for Halloween with a philanthropic, star-studded benefit. On its 16th anniversary, Dylan Lauren, Ralph Lauren's daughter and the founder of Dylan's Candy, hosted a “Sweet Sixteen” anniversary bash at the company's flagship store New York City. And, to make the event even more memorable, Lauren asked 22 celebrities who work in fashion, art, and film, to create mosaics out of her candy.
The mosaics were auctioned off on the night of the party, with the proceeds going to a charity of each celebrity's choice, including the Elton John AIDS Foundation, World Childhood Foundation, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
“My mission for Dylan’s Candy Bar has been to merge art, fashion, and pop culture with candy,” Lauren told Vogue. “I never thought of candy as just something to eat. As the daughter of Ralph Lauren and as an art history major, I was inspired to use colorful candy as a medium to craft and design.”
Even though the auction is over, you can still take a peek at their creative, candy art. Here are a few of our favorites, from Martha Stewart to Katie Couric.
