Dolly Parton Celebrates Getting Covid-19 Vaccine With Hilarious New Spin on ‘Jolene’

Dolly Parton is celebrating getting her Covid-19 vaccine the best way she knows how: with a song!

The country queen shared a delightful video on her social media pages saying, “I wanted to tell everybody that you should get out there and [get vaccinated], too. I even changed one of my songs to fit the occasion. It goes, ‘Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vacciiiine, I’m begging of you please don’t hesitate.’”

Parton added, “I know I’m trying to be funny now, but I am dead serious about the vaccine. I think we all want to get back to normal — whatever that is — and that would be a great shot in the arm, wouldn’t it? If we could get back to that?”

Take a look below to see the Parton’s entire vaccination process:

Parton previously made headlines for her $1 million donation to Vanderbilt University and their research for the Moderna vaccine. Of course, in typical Dolly fashion, she didn’t use that as clout to bump ahead of anyone in line for the shots when they started rolling out. After her 75th birthday last month, though, she definitely qualifies for it!

She had her friend and Moderna researcher Dr. Naji Abumrad on hand to administer the jab — and kept things lighthearted by poking a little fun at him. When he took a few moments to prep the vaccine, Parton joked, “Well, it didn’t take this long to film 9 to 5, Dr. Naji…” But she was all smiles once they finished it up a few seconds later.

Even with her wise cracks and songs, the whole thing took less than five minutes! And we have to say, considering Parton basically feels like a member of all our families, we are pretty relieved knowing she will be protected from the virus.

We also echo her advice, “Don’t be such a chicken squat, get out there and get your shot!”
