Prince Harry Announces His First Major Project Since Stepping Down as Senior Royal

Tags:

Prince Harry might have only just begun his transition outside of royal life alongside his wife Meghan Markle, but it seems he’s remaining well connected to his former charitable ties.

Prince Harry made an announcement from lockdown in Los Angeles on Monday about his first major project since he stepped back, and it couldn’t be more fitting.

Harry, who is passionate about his ties to the military, has launched a platform that will help servicemen and women with mental health, and the crux of the initiative remains true to his character.

The Prince announced he would launch HeadFIT, an online platform that will provide military personnel in the UK access to mental healthcare and advice.

The project first came to light back in 2017, (that’s before Harry had even married Meghan), so it’s clearly been a long time coming.

To launch it, a new clip was released of the Prince speaking candidly about the initiative.

The Prince urged military personnel to be mindful of whether they are keeping themselves mentally fit as well as physically fit while they are in service and beyond.

“Today, when we talk about fitness, we don’t just mean how fast you can run or how much weight you can carry.

“This is about mental fitness, strength and resilience, not just while wearing a uniform, but for the rest of your life,” he said.

In a statement, the Prince elaborated: “HeadFIT has been almost three years in the making, and I am extremely grateful for everyone who has been on this journey with us.”

The platform includes tools and pointers to help current and ex service men and women with breathing exercises, relaxation and even improved body posture.

Harry and Meghan are currently holed up in their new home in Los Angeles at present, where they are currently isolating amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pair have emerged from the house sparingly, choosing to only go outdoors for charity work, according to a source who spoke to PEOPLE earlier this month.

Despite rarely stepping out in public, the pair were spotted over Easter weekend handing out food deliveries to those in need alongside local charity Project Angel.

Both were seen in face masks and casual gear as they visited several homes in the West Hollywood area.

As the pair now look to a financially independant future, we will likely be seeing more and more of their various initiatives they’ve no doubt be working hard on behind the scenes from lockdown.

All of their work will fall under the umbrella of their new foundation, named Archewell – a carefully selected word which is derived from the phrase ‘source of action’.

With Prince Harry’s HeadFIT announcement to start with, it looks like there’s a lot more to come where Harry and Megan are concerned.
