This Sorority Did Something Amazing for One Student, But What She Did for Them Was Even Better

Tags:

When 22-year-old Alexis Cain told her mother she wanted to join a sorority at her college, the mom had her doubts.

But her concerns weren’t just the typical worries that any college-age daughter’s parents would have. That’s because Alexis has Down syndrome, and she’s always had to work extra hard to do everyday things that many young people take for granted.

As you’ll see in this video, though, Mom needn’t have worried: The sisters of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority at Murray State University in Kentucky welcomed the outgoing, friendly co-ed with open arms, offering her a formal “bid” to join their group–an occasion which Alexis’ mom called “one of the best moments that she’ll ever have in her life.”

But the truly surprising part? The sisters of Alpha Sigma Alpha don’t see their kind act as something they did for Alexis; rather, they are feeling grateful toward her for delivering them some of the most important lessons of their college careers. Just watch (and get the tissues ready!).
