So many of us deal with dark or puffy under-eye circles that make us look endlessly tired or older than we really are (or both!) no matter what we try. Well, all of that may change soon, thanks to researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who have have developed a strange new breakthrough material that promises to serve as a "second skin."
The best news? Smoothing eye wrinkles and temporarily tightening skin may be the least of what this miracle product can do.
It's called XPL, and it goes on your skin like a clear gel. According to researchers, the material, a silicone-based polymer that can be applied on the skin as a thin, imperceptible coating, mimics the mechanical and elastic properties of healthy, youthful skin. It temporarily protects skin and tightens wrinkles, but--with further development--it soon will also be used to deliver medications to the skin to help treat skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.
If you're thinking it sounds too good to be true, we don't blame you. But why not see it for yourself? Watch this quick video, which shows the dramatic, age-defying transformation of a woman's face.
Pretty jaw-dropping difference, right? Coming soon to a makeup counter near you--we hope!
