Garlic-Thyme Slow-Cooker Chicken

Ingredients
- 1 onion, peeled and cut into thick slices
- 1 (5 lb.) roaster chicken
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme
- 2 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1 tsp. dried thyme
- 1½ tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Place onion slices in bottom of 6-qt. slow cooker. Pat chicken dry. Place garlic and fresh thyme in cavity. In bowl, combine spices. Rub over chicken. Place chicken, breast side down, on onions. Cover; cook on high 4 hrs. or low 6 to 8 hrs. or until 165°F.
- If desired, carefully transfer chicken to large baking dish and place in oven. Broil 3 to 5 min. or until skin is crispy. Remove; transfer to cutting board. Let sit 15 min. before carving.
