King’s Hawaiian roll is mastering the marketing techniques, especially now that they’re integrating your favorite TV shows—like The Bachelor and Yellowstone—for their new advertisements. The bakery brand recently partnered with the award-winning advertising agency, Erich & Kallman, to create a spoofing campaign targeting today’s most popular television.

Inside King’s Hawaiian’s ‘Yellowstone’-themed commercial

The Yellowstone-themed advertisement takes place in an “oil town” as it starts off explaining, while the “King” of the oil town tells his son that “legacy is everything” and that he must choose his girl or his family. See the commercial below.

After the “King” gives his son an ultimatum, one of the camerapeople interrupts to ask, “Did someone say King’s Hawaiian? My kids go bonkers for the pretzel bites.” Anytime there is a mention of the word king, someone cuts in to ask about one of King’s Hawaiian products.

We love the idea that King’s Hawaiian is so good, it hijacks whatever scene it’s in,” Eric Kallman of Erich & Kallman said. “These shorts are a playful nod to the kinds of shows people binge, and we had a blast creating them. Nothing steals the spotlight like King’s Hawaiian. We’re delighted with the digital shorts and excited for the rollout of more new television spots in the fall.”

Other TV spoofs in the new campaign

Along with the Yellowstone-themed commercial, King’s Hawaiian created a few more spoof ads for shows like The Bachelor, where an eligible man gives out dandelions to two ladies, rather than the usual gift of a rose.

Another short video simply follows the romantic comedy trope, as a small town girl and a king meet unexpectedly. Of course, when the word king is mentioned, the usual cut-in also occurs to ask about King’s Hawaiian.

Erich & Kallman have a truly unique way of approaching these advertisements, as they begin with something that everybody loves—such as a Yellowstone-themed ad—and then make it clear that the subject is King’s Hawaiian rolls.

The Chief Marketing Officer of King’s Hawaiian spoke about how their collaboration with Erich & Kallman has allowed for the creation of an exciting new project.

“Erich & Kallman makes people smile while showcasing how King’s Hawaiian has grown into a truly beloved food over its 75-year history,” said Raouf Moussa, CMO of King’s Hawaiian. “The campaign also connects us to new generations while honouring the brand’s rich heritage. We couldn’t be more pleased.”
