‘Little House on the Prairie’ Reboot Is Casting Laura Ingalls—Here’s How to Submit an Audition
The search is on for the next Laura Ingalls—here’s how to apply before the deadline hits!
Dreaming of acting? The new Little House on the Prairie reboot is officially casting for the role of Laura Ingalls! The upcoming series is hosting an open casting call in hopes of finding someone to take the part.
The producers announced on Instagram on March 21 that they were searching for a talented child to play their leading role.
“In case you missed it… @netflix announced a new adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic Little House books!,” The post read. “And now we’re excited to share that 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐧!”
It continued, “Do you know an amazing child who could play the role of Laura Ingalls in this epic and thrilling family adventure? Check out the open casting call webpage to get more information about auditioning.”
Who can audition for the ‘Little House on the Prairie’ casting call?
The casting directors for the new series are searching for a “white female, 9-11 years old,” described as “a disruptor. Honest to a fault. Questions authority. She is observant, tender strong-willed, hot-tempered. She resists the bounds of 19th-century ladylike behavior — she likes to hunt and run barefoot and feel the sun on her face.”
The description adds, “She is curious and optimistic and fearless and is quick to confront anyone who is cruel or unjust. She loves fiercely and unapologetically and is utterly devoted to her dog, Jack. She absorbs every detail she sees around her, collecting them for stories she will someday share with the world.”
Deadline alert! When is the ‘Little House on the Prairie’ casting submission due?
The casting call has been out since March 21, but if you know someone perfect for the part of Laura, make sure to get their tape in ASAP. The official submission date is April 7, 2025, which leaves just a few days to submit. But the submissions are fully an online process, so it is very easy to upload an audition! About Netflix’s ‘Little House on the Prairie’ reboot series
The new Little House on the Prairie will be produced by CBS Studios and released on Netflix. The showrunner is Rebecca Sonnenshine, known for her work on The Vampire Diaries, and will be executively produced by Joy Gorman Wettels for Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly for Friendly Family Productions & Dana Fox. Sarah Adina Smith, known for Birds of Paradise (2021), will be stepping in as director with Rachel Tenner serving as the casting director.
Filming for the Little House reboot will take place in Winnipeg, Canada, from June to October 2025. Any candidates for the role must be exclusively available during those dates for the shoot.
Based closely on the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the Netflix reboot is described as “Part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West.”
