‘Big Brother’ Season 27, Episode 1 Recap: Meet the Houseguests and Mystery Guest!
Can you guess who the accomplice is?
Season 27 of Big Brother premiered last night, and though we’re only in the early stages of the season, it’s clear that Hotel Mystère is going to be packed with mystery and intrigue. The episode began with this season’s houseguests further introducing themselves, elaborating a bit on where they’re from, their careers and backstories, and it’s clear that many of them are long-time Big Brother fans who have been studying the ins and outs of the game for years. Upon moving into the house, which is elaborately decorated to match this season’s theme, participants were seen exploring their new quarters and getting to know one another—and off the bat, it’s clear some of the houseguests are already forming connections.
In the midst of this, viewers at home caught a glimpse of a clock counting down from nine minutes. After all of the houseguests are in, the group is called to gather by host Julie Chen-Moonves, a Head of Household relic is on display, and soon enough, the clock hits zero, the lights go out, and Julie is nowhere to be seen. A masked figure appears, informing the group that he was behind the disappearance, and from there, the house is split in half, with eight having to search for the missing relic and eight having to find Julie.

Find out who proved themselves on ‘Big Brother’ Season 27, Episode 1
Those who set out looking for Julie included Rylie, Zach, Lauren, Adrian, Mickey, Vince and Ava, and in the end, it was Zach, the former minor league baseball player, who discovered Julie, earning $10,000. Amongst the other group of eight was Keanu, Will, Kelley, Morgan, Zae, Katherine, Jimmy and Ashley, and it was Jimmy, the AI consultant from Washington, D.C., who found the relic, earning the chance to pick who would be competing in the first Head of Household competition. In the end, Vince, the unemployed former baseball player, came out victorious.

What else happened in the ‘Big Brother’ premiere?
Viewers got several other insights into what the season will hold, including the reveal that the AI Arena was back as the BB Blockbuster. But that wasn’t all! Remember the “Mystery Houseguest” fans were promised? Well it just so happens to be none other than Rachel Reilly, winner of Big Brother Season 13. So does that mean there’s going to be 17 houseguests this season? Possibly. As the show went on, it was revealed that one of the original 16 houseguests was the accomplice of the red masked figure introduced earlier in the episode after Julie was kidnapped.
If the houseguests can figure out who this mystery accomplice is, that person will be ejected from the game. However, if they can’t get to the bottom of the mystery, the accomplice will remain and 17 contestants will all be fighting for the grand prize! Mystery and intrigue await as the season continues, and don’t miss the next episode on Sunday.
