What happened in the winter finale?

With FBI off the air since mid-December, a quick refresher may be in order. The two-part winter finale, which aired on December 15, 2025, put the team through one of its most intense tests yet.

The story began with what appeared to be a straightforward murder investigation, but a shocking twist quickly raised the stakes, putting all of New York City at risk. In part two, a massive explosion left everyone in danger and disrupted cell service, internet access and emergency systems citywide.

As FBI heads into the second half of its eighth season, the series welcomes back guest star Special Agent Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten). Viewers may remember that Nina shares a son with Special Agent Stuart Scola.

While Nina has popped up in several episodes over the years, she typically works in a different department. Tonight, however, she returns for a special appearance that brings her back into the team’s orbit.

Season 8, Episode 11 is titled “Confetti” and an official synopsis for the episode reads: “When an undercover operation being led by Special Agent Nina Chase goes sideways, the team works together to flip their only witness to help them hunt down a rip crew at a cartel wedding. The aftermath leads Nina and Scola to realize they are ready to tie the knot.”

While fans of FBI are gearing up for the new episode tonight, they can also get ready for the premiere of its new spinoff, CIA. Starring Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfuss, CIA is about to become your newest obsession.
