What is ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2 about?

Set in East Texas, season 1 of the soapy drama—based on the bestselling novel of the same name by May Cobb—centers on Sophie (Brittany Snow) and her family. After moving to town, Sophie meets the enigmatic Margo Banks (Malin Akerman) and she’s swiftly drawn into her Southern world of shocking scandals, secrets and betrayals.

According to the show’s official logline, The Hunting Wives Season 2 will pick up where Season 1 left off—and it seems like drama and danger abound again. The official synopsis says: “Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises: Are they the hunters or the hunted?”

In July, Akerman opened up to Variety about her season 2 theories. (Warning: Slight spoilers ahead!) “I think it’ll have to be Margo and Sophie banding together to cover up the murder, and Margo reconciling with Jed. Especially if he goes on this political trail, he’s going to want the image to be right,” Akerman told the outlet. “So I think she has something to gain there where she can come back to him and say, ‘Listen, I’ll stand by your side and I’ll be the good little wife and do everything that you ask me to do. Just let me back in!’ Because I don’t think she wants to lose that lifestyle or that position of power.”

Netflix announced the show’s renewal on Instagram with a hilarious joint “FaceTime” call between Snow and Akerman (wig and all!). Take a peek at the announcement below!

Well, fans can breathe a big sigh of relief. Both Snow and Akerman are reprising their beloved roles as Sophie and Margo for Season 2. It’s also been announced that Dermot Mulroney will return as oil tycoon Jed Banks. Jamie Ray Newman will return as Callie, who plays the wife of the local sheriff and Margo’s devious sidekick. Evan Jonigkeit is back as Graham O’Neil—Sophie’s architect husband. And George Ferrier will return as young heartthrob Brad.

Where will ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2 be filmed?

Rumors are swirling around online that November 17th is currently the production start date. The cast is reportedly returning to Charlotte, North Carolina, to film again—even though the show is set in East Texas! Both the cast and crew had a ball while filming Season 1 and The Hunting Wives author May Cobb confirmed this when Woman’s World caught up with her recently. When asked if the cast and crew really enjoyed fun off-set at the local honky tonks, she said yes! “It was such a fun place,” Cobb noted. “I even took my sister there after filming one day, and we were both like, ‘This really feels just like we’re back home in Texas.’ And the line dancers were incredible. So it was really cool.”

When will ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2 be released on Netflix?

If production starts on schedule in November, it’s possible The Hunting Wives season 2 could be streaming on Netflix sometime in late 2026. The second season will also have 8 episodes, just like the first season. An exact release date is not yet available.

Patiently awaiting Season 2 and want to relive the raunchy escapades? The Hunting Wives is streaming now on Netflix.
