‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2: Everything We Know About the Steamy Western’s Return to Netflix
The Netflix western wrapped filming in December—here's what to expect from the next chapter
If you loved the gritty drama and steamy romance of Netflix’s Ransom Canyon, you are definitely not alone. The soapy western starring Minka Kelly, Josh Duhamel, Jack Schumacher, James Brolin, Marianly Tejada and more took us to the quaint town of Ransom Canyon, where tradition and history reign supreme. The series followed intertwined lives of ranchers Staten Kirkland (Duhamel), Davis Collins (Eoin Macken) and Cap Fuller (Brolin), as well as the people who found themselves embedded in the conflict like Quinn O’Grady (Kelly), who owns the local dance hall, Ellie Estevez (Tejada), who works at the hall and looks after Cap, and Yancy Grey (Schumacher), who starts working at the Fuller Ranch.
Considering how the series ended, fans have been anxiously anticipating whether their burning questions will be answered with a second season, and luckily for us, Netflix has not only confirmed that the show would be returning for a second season, but has also revealed that filming has already wrapped—and there are a handful of new faces that’ll be joining the next installment! Here, find out everything we know about Ransom Canyon Season 2.
Will there be a ‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2?

In June of last year, Netflix announced that they renewed Ransom Canyon for a second season after the show’s April premiere, but that doesn’t mean the show’s creator, April Blair, was sitting around waiting for the call to get the ball rolling. “We’ve already started the writers’ room, even though the show hasn’t been picked up to series yet for Season 2,” she told TV Guide back before a second season had been greenlit.
With so many questions unanswered, there are several avenues the series could go down. At the end of the debut season, Quinn tells Staten that she’d been asked to return to New York for a few months, which derails their budding romance that had been brewing for the duration of the show, and as if that wasn’t enough to throw Staten off-kilter, the discovery of who was responsible for his son’s death certainly will.
“We wanted to find some closure with that,” Blair shared of why it was important to reveal the culprit within the first season. “And also, who was behind it and what really happened opens up a whole new series of relationship drama between Lucas and Lauren, as you know. So it gives us a lot of runway in other stories as well.”
What will happen with Lucas, Kit and the Sheriff?
The revelation that Margaret Brigman was the woman responsible for Randall’s death will also have implications in Season 2 for her husband, the local sheriff. “In a potential Season 2, I think it’s a huge part of what’s going on. We’re still just in the room, so I don’t have every aspect to tell you,” said Blair. “Westerns are morality tales, and so every aspect of this show, we always try to come from that foundation of love, lands, and legacy, and what that really means. For Sheriff Dan, this is his legacy and his family and the people that he loves. He has this moral choice. Does he do the right thing by his family and the wrong thing by his profession?”
With Kit out of jail, Blair told Entertainment Weekly that he and Lucas’s storyline is one they’re going to dig into in the future. “That’s a story and family dynamic that we’re really excited to dive deeper in to. Garret Wareing [Lucas] and Casey Johnson [Kit] are both such strong and compelling actors. It’s going to be fun to see all the trouble they get into. And there will be trouble, I promise.”
Will there be a time jump in Season 2?
In conversation with TV Guide, Blair revealed that the second season would be set beyond Quinn’s time in New York, at least six months into the future. This would also allow some time for the relationship between Davis and Staten’s father to brew.
“My favorite feeling is when a show ends, and you don’t want it to end, and you just want more,” Blair told Netflix’s Tudum. “It makes you feel warm and familiar, and you don’t want to let go. That is how I hope people feel. It’s how I feel about the show watching it.”
Has ‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2 started filming yet?
Toward the end of last year, Netflix’s Tudum revealed that filming had begun for the show’s second season—and just a few weeks ago, the cast wrapped up Season 2! “I couldn’t be happier that Netflix is ready to get back in the saddle for Ransom Canyon,” executive producer and showrunner April Blair told the publication. “Our dreamy little corner of Texas Hill Country is full of stories still untold, and we can’t wait to bring them to our incredible fans. Get ready for another ride.”
On December 20, the Ransom Canyon Instagram account shared a photo with the caption reading, “A TALE OF LOVE, LAND AND LEGACY CONTINUES… Wrapped S2.”

Who’s in the ‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2 cast?
In the second season of Ransom Canyon, viewers can expect to see a lot of the same faces we saw bring the story to life in Season 1—plus a handful of new actors and actresses that you might recognize from their other credits! Josh Duhamel will of course return as the gruff and hunky Staten Kirkland, while Minka Kelly will also return as Quinn. Fans can also expect to see Lizzy Greene, Jack Schumacher, Garrett Wareing, Marianly Tejada, Tatanka Means, Casey W. Johnson, Kenny Miller, Justin Johnson Cortez, Niko Guardado, Brett Cullen, Philip Winchester and Jennifer Ens on screen again as well.
In addition to these familiar faces, fans were excited to learn that Steve Howey, known for his work on shows like Shameless, Reba and High Potential, would also be joining Ransom Canyon as Levi, Staten’s brother who lives off the grid. In addition to Howey, Patricia Clarkson will also join the cast. The actress will be playing the part of Claire O’Grady, Quinn’s mother. Heidi Engerman and Ben Robson will appear in Ransom Canyon Season 2 as well.
When will ‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2 come out?
With filming for Ransom Canyon Season 2 already wrapped, we’ve got our fingers crossed that the post-production period goes by in the blink of an eye, and soon enough, we’ll be watching the story continue on our screens! While Netflix hasn’t announced an official premiere date yet, if we look at typical production timelines, we could potentially see Season 2 arrive sometime in late 2026. That might seem like a long wait, but it gives us plenty of time to rewatch Season 1 and catch all those little details we might have missed the first time around! In the meantime, there’s no better excuse to settle in with your favorite cozy blanket and a cup of something warm to revisit all the drama, romance, and breathtaking scenery that made us fall in love with Ransom Canyon in the first place. Trust us—when Season 2 finally arrives, you’ll be more than ready to saddle up for another ride!
