Out here in the middle, there’s chaos, there’s humor and there’s family, and the Heck family knows that better than most. Frankie Heck (Patricia Heaton) is a middle-class, middle-aged middle-American mom of three just trying to keep things together with her job at the car dealership. But things are tough with a husband who has very little emotion, oldest son Axl who only cares about himself, awkward daughter Sue and “interesting” youngest son, Brick.

But where there’s insanity, there’s also love, which is exactly what The Middle cast has behind the scenes of the craziness. When portraying their hilarious characters and getting all of America to laugh with them came to an end during the 2018 series finale, the stars continued to enjoy life with their own loved ones. Find out which members of the crew are married in real life!

Patricia Heaton and Constantine Yankoglu

Patricia Heaton and Constantine Yankoglu exchanged vows in 1984 but were only together for three years before divorcing in 1987. There is very little information about the former couple.

Patricia Heaton and David Hunt

Heaton married for the second and final time in 1990 when she tied the knot with actor and film producer David Hunt. The couple had a sort of rom-com meeting as Hunt sublet his apartment to Heaton while he was in New York City performing in a play. It didn’t take long for things to become romantic because they soon began dating in 1988 and had a wedding at the beginning of the next decade.

Interestingly enough, the two had worked within blocks of one another at different restaurants in New York City years prior, but they never actually met—talk about the invisible string theory. In 1993, the couple had their first child, Samuel, followed by John in 1995, Joseph in 1997 and Daniel in 1999.

While Heaton continues her successful acting career, the two also run their own production company called FourBoys Entertainment. They’ve produced multiple movies and shows, including Heaton’s 2019 series, Carol’s Second Act.

The actor, who portrayed Mike Heck, is apparently single.

Eden Sher and Nick Cron-Devico

She may play the awkward yet optimistic Sue Heck on The Middle, but in real life Eden Sher is a married mom of two (or three if you count her pup, Peanut). Sher tied the knot with her husband, writer Nick Cron-Devico, in 2020 during a backyard (socially distanced) ceremony. In 2021, the couple welcomed twins, both of whom she hasn’t shared much about.

Charlie McDermott and Sara Rejaie

Charlie McDermott, best known for portraying the self-absorbed Axl Heck, is less self-absorbed in real life. Following the end of The Middle, the actor made the transition from star to country folk musician, a career which has been supported by his wife, Sara Rejaie, whom he married in 2017. The couple has a private life together, so not much is known about their relationship.

The actor who portrayed the quirky youngest son, Brick, is apparently single.

Beau Wirick and Daniela Bobadilla

This couple has The Middle to thank for their romance. Beau Wirick and Daniela Bobadilla fell in love on the set of the sitcom. Wirick portrays Sean Donahue, the best friend of Axl, while Bobadilla stars as Sue’s college roommate, Lexie Brooks. The two even had an episode where they had feelings for one another and went on a date, although it didn’t last long.

But in real life, their relationship blossomed, and they eventually exchanged vows in 2018. They are very active on social media as a couple and often offer a glimpse into their lives together.
