By now, you’ve probably heard of Cannabidiol (CBD) oil — it seems to be everywhere these days! Experts are touting its range of health benefits from quelling anxiety and insomnia to easing pain associated with conditions such as inflammation, arthritis, and fibromyalgia. Not to be confused with hemp, or cannabis sativa seed oil, which has been around for years, this non-psychoactive, or non-high-inducing, cannabis plant extraction is also popping up on the beauty shelves of well-known retailers the world over from Sephora to Neiman Marcus to Ulta. In fact, CBD beauty products are all but taking over the industry.
What are the benefits of CBD beauty products?
Paula Begoun, founder of Paula’s Choice Skincare, explained in a press release that in addition to its medical benefits, CBD also has plenty of physical ones. “One way is its ability to help calm skin, particularly skin that’s acne-prone,” she explains. “Because acne is an inflammatory condition, research indicates CBD’s soothing properties can help diminish breakouts and reduce redness.” What’s more, it has the potential to decrease sebum, or oil production, a main acne-causing culprit.
CBD also has plenty of antioxidant properties that many believe will equate to less visible signs of aging. “CBD anti-aging creams may be able to help visibly diminish issues like wrinkles, skin dullness, and ruddy skin tone,” Begoun says.
In addition, those same anti-inflammatory properties that work to ease joint pain also benefit those with delicate complexions. “Even if you don’t think of your skin as ‘sensitive’ per se, all skin types are affected by environmental stressors, so CBD’s soothing mechanism can help keep skin in check,” says Begoun.

CBD Daily Shampoo and Conditioner uses a blend of CBD, argan, and other essential oils to hydrate even the most dry heads. It’s also color-safe and sulfate-free.
