Who Are Elvis Presley’s Grandchildren? Everything To Know

Elvis Presley may have passed away over four decades ago, but his impact on popular culture remains profound. I remember hearing “Suspicious Minds” on the radio in my youth, and my parents danced to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” at their wedding. Now, I’ve been able to share my love for Elvis with my grandchildren, taking them to see Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis in theaters and watching Austin Butler fill those larger-than-life blue suede shoes. 

With Butler and Tom Hanks’ portrayal of the King of Rock and Roll’s rise and fall, I expected to see Elvis’ name in the news even more, thanks to the film’s Golden Globe nominations. What I didn’t expect, however, was to see Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s daughter Lisa Marie Presley tragically pass away early in 2023 at the age of 54. The singer-songwriter will be buried with her father in Graceland, which she inherited from him upon his death in 1977. This historical building is already the resting place of several members of the Presley family. Who are Elvis’ grandchildren?

Elvis and Priscilla Presley had just one child, Lisa Marie Presley, who was born in 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee, near Elvis’ Graceland property. Lisa Marie had four children of her own, three of whom are set to inherit the Graceland estate. Here’s a closer look at their lives and legacies; they’ve each continued to carry on the torch of their parents’ and grandparents’ influences on the world of music and culture. 

Riley Keough (b. 1989)

Danielle Riley Keough, known as Riley Keough, clearly followed in her family’s footsteps with her love of art and entertainment when she became an actress in the early 2000s. She is the eldest granddaughter of Elvis and Priscilla and the eldest child of Lisa Marie and her first husband, musician Danny Keough, to whom she was married from 1988 to 1994. 

Riley Keough’s Early Work

Riley Keough’s work stands on its own, earning her a place in the American zeitgeist independent of her star-studded parents. Ironically, her first feature film was a musical biopic based on the 1970s rock band The Runaways. Alongside actors Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart, Keough played the part of Marie Currie, whose sister tries to make it big in the world of rock and roll. The film features a familiar and iconic playlist of hits and was generally seen as a success by critics. Since then, Keough has appeared in a wide range of films and television shows, including some limited-run programs, including Magic Mike, Mad Max: Fury Road, Logan Lucky, and The Lodge.

In her time as an actress, Keough has been nominated for several awards, including Best Supporting Actress at the Milano Film Festival for her work in The Good Doctor in 2011. Her nominations also include a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role in The Girlfriend Experience (2016). She won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female in American Honey (2016), and she co-directed the film War Pony with Gina Gammell, which won a Camera d’Or Award, or Golden Camera Award, at the Cannes Film Festival. Keough additionally has a history of modeling for brands like Dolce and Gabbana and Christian Dior, and she graced the cover of Vogue in 2004. 

Riley Keough’s Next Steps

Coming full circle, Riley will be starring in the upcoming miniseries Daisy Jones & the Six — based on the bestselling book by Taylor Jenkins Reid — in March of 2023. The story is about a rock band’s rise to fame in the 1970s in Los Angeles, and Riley plays the titular role. From The Runaways to Daisy Jones, rock and roll history is clearly an essential part of Riley’s life. To look at her roots, it is little wonder why — but there is no doubt that Riley has made a life and a name for herself.   

Benjamin Keough (1992 to 2020)

Lisa Marie Presley and Danny Keough’s son Benjamin Keough was Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s first and only grandson. He was known for the resemblance he bore to his grandfather and was close with his sister Riley, who is just three years his elder. Like Benjamin’s iconic grandfather, his father Danny was also a musician. Benjamin, following in the family trade, was even offered a $5 million record contract by Universal when he was just 17 years old. While the contract was meant to cover up to five albums, Benjamin ultimately never produced any professional music.

His mother Lisa Marie’s turbulent lifestyle included three subsequent marriages after her divorce from Benjamin’s father — including a marriage to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and a whirlwind marriage to actor Nicolas Cage, which lasted just 107 days. Financial straits affected the family, as did a close association with and support for the Church of Scientology. Many believe that these factors ultimately contributed to Benjamin’s struggles with drugs and alcohol. His remarkable resemblance to his grandfather was also said to warrant unwelcome attention. In 2020, Benjamin died of suicide in his Calabasas home. He is remembered with love by family and friends.   

Finley Lockwood and Harper Lockwood (b. 2008)

Finley Aaron Love Lockwood and Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood are fraternal twin daughters born to Lisa Marie and her fourth husband Michael Lockwood, her guitarist and music producer. Their marriage lasted from 2006 to 2016. Interestingly enough, twins are not uncommon in the Presley family line. Elvis Presley himself had a twin brother who did not survive birth; his twin is buried at Graceland, along with Elvis’ parents, Vernon and Gladys, and his grandmother, Minnie Mae. Harper’s middle name “Ann” is an homage to Lisa Marie Presley’s grandmother, Anna Lillian Iversen, known as Ann Beaulieu. Finley’s middle name “Aaron” also holds family significance, as Elvis’ middle name was Aron at his birth (which he later changed to Aaron). 

Finley and Harper were often featured on their mother’s social media. Along with their sister Riley, Finley and Harper Lockwood will inherit Graceland, the historic estate that once belonged to their grandfather. These sisters will also have the opportunity to sustain the legacy of one of music history’s greats.

Elvis’ Legacy Lives On

It can be said that many artists have changed music, culture, and history. Each decade holds its own icons and chart toppers — creating movements, soundtracking revolutions, and inspiring the artists and creators that come after them. Clearly, one such artist whose work continues to be celebrated many years after his passing is Elvis Presley — quite literally the King of Rock ‘n Roll. His melodies have transcended time, and his lyrics are some of the most memorable ever written. Even his hairstyle and smoldering gaze have become trademarked, emblematic of a man who truly changed the face of modern music. 

One major way in which Elvis’ legacy will continue to thrive is through his grandchildren. Priscilla and Elvis Presley’s only child, Lisa Marie Presley, had four children over the course of her life; and while she is now gone, it’s apparent that her daughter Riley Keough is following in the family’s footsteps by making her way in Hollywood. Lisa Marie’s young twins are set to inherit the Graceland Estate, alongside their half-sister Riley. And Benjamin Keough is lovingly remembered by his family and buried by their side at the estate. There is little doubt that through the generations, the Presley family and their art continues to be cherished.
