You may recognize the name Bryant Thomas from his mysterious TikTok and social media videos where he shows off his insane vocals from behind a shower curtain, never showing his true identity. But on last night’s American Idol premiere, Thomas finally revealed the face behind his incredible voice. Plus, he asked someone a very important question. Who is Bryant Thomas?
The viral singer is well-known for his secretive TikTok videos, where his girlfriend, Alyona Palhof, gets ready on camera while Thomas sings in the shower. The singer has never revealed his face, even with millions of viewers begging to know who he is.
His most viral video is his cover of the Goo Goo Dolls song, “Iris,” which Thomas belted out from behind the curtain. The video garnered nearly 5 million views and 500,000 likes.
Impressed comments from fans came in saying “10/10 shower singing” and “This was actually so good. He needs to do a full cover.”
After the success of the video, the duo started a concert series. In each video, Palhof is recording a “get ready with me” while Thomas covers songs by a number of artists, from Nickelback to Taylor Swift. And throughout them all, he never revealed his true identity—until last night on American Idol.
Bryant Thomas’ ‘American Idol’ audition
At the premiere of the singing competition, Thomas kept his face hidden after informing the judges—Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan—that nobody had ever seen his face. Instead of performing front and center, Thomas stood behind a pillar, singing “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)” by Phil Collins.
As he sung, Thomas finally revealed his face to the judges and the world. His vocals impressed all three, with Underwood saying, “Your voice is outrageous. It really is, even over there, behind a pillar. You can feel just so much emotion and life in your voice.”
Meanwhile, Richie commented, “I think we got ourselves a hit record here. You’ve got star power vocals here, man.”
The performance earned him a Golden Ticket and he brought out his girlfriend and family to meet the judges. But Thomas had another plan in mind—a proposal. Thomas knelt down right in front of the judges and popped the question to Palhof. He said, “My journey started with you and is gonna end with you,” he said, adding that he was planning to propose whether he won over the judges or not.”
After receiving his fourth yes of the night, Thomas left the audition with a ticket to Hollywood and a fiancée. He later shared his reveal and big news for his 33.5K followers in an Instagram post.
“I walked in hoping for one yes…and walked out with four,” Thomas wrote in the post. “Three from the judges. One from her. 💍Golden ticket secured 🎟️Face revealed. Hollywood Week, here I come.”
