4 ‘Outlander’ Season 8 Predictions Fans Are Buzzing About—Will Jamie Fraser Really Die?
From Jamie's fate to Claire's powers, here's what fans think will happen in the final season
As we anxiously anticipate the premiere of the final season of Outlander on March 6, rumors, theories and predictions have been floating through cyberspace for months, and with its debut nearly here, we’re desperate to see what’s true. While waiting for the premiere, we’ve gotten a glimpse at what’s in store through trailers and teasers, and while we know the general premise of the upcoming season, what will actually go down remains unknown. Outlander Season 8 will follow Jamie and Claire in Fraser’s Ridge, and war has seemingly trailed behind them. While they were away, Fraser’s Ridge has grown immensely and become a thriving community, but things lie ahead that could threaten the life they’ve built—forcing them to answer the question of what they’ll do to protect their home and family.
Here, take a look at some of the Outlander Season 8 predictions we’ve seen floating around social media. We’ll just have to tune in on Starz on March 6 and see if any come to fruition!
1. Jamie Fraser will die in Season 8
One of the most gut-wrenching predictions we’ve seen floating around has to do with the beloved Jamie Fraser, brought to life by Sam Heughan. In one of the earliest teasers for Season 8, Jamie reveals that he’s been reading a book written by Frank Randall, Claire’s former husband, and in it, he reveals that Jamie Fraser dies in the war that’s coming their way. Obviously rattled by this revelation, there’s no saying how Claire, Jamie and the rest of their community might handle this prospect.
2. Claire will reach her true healing potential
Another popular Season 8 theory that fans are rallying behind is that Claire’s healing capabilities will extend beyond her medical skills. From the start of the show, Claire has helped others using her modern-day medical experience, but over the course of the show, she’s been told that her skills go beyond her current abilities—and one of those prophecies came in Season 4 when the shaman Nayawenne stated that when her hair turns white, she’ll reach her full potential that’ll allow her to tap into her magic abilities. Though in trailers for the new season Claire’s hair hasn’t fully grayed, we’ve got our fingers crossed that she’ll be able to dabble with her powers just a bit.

3. Jamie and John patch things up
In recent seasons, Jamie and Lord John Grey’s relationship has grown rather complicated. When Jamie was presumed dead, Claire married John and the two ultimately consummated their marriage. When Jamie learned of this after his return, his and John’s relationship was understandably fractured—but many fans predict they’ll patch things up.

4. Faith lived and raised Fanny and Jane
In Season 7, Jamie and Claire take in Fanny, a young orphan who they discover with a locket that reads “Faith,” the name of Claire and Jamie’s stillborn child. This theory becomes even more legitimate when Fanny is heard singing “I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside,” a song from the 20th century that Claire sang to Faith after she gave birth. Fans predict that Claire will endure something of a spiral as she grapples with this possibility that Fanny is the daughter of Faith, only possible if she was brought back to life by Master Raymond.
Whether these predictions come true or not, one thing’s for certain: Outlander Season 8 promises to deliver the emotional, epic storytelling we’ve come to love. So grab your tissues, settle in with your favorite viewing snacks and get ready for the final chapter of Jamie and Claire’s incredible journey. It’s going to be unforgettable!
