‘Sheriff Country’ Season 2 Is Coming—Here’s Everything We Know About the Renewal
The CBS drama starring Morena Baccarin is returning—and fans are thrilled
If you’ve found yourself swept away by the drama and action of Sheriff Country, CBS’s gripping spinoff of its other hit show, Fire Country, you’ll be excited to learn that you most definitely aren’t alone.
Earlier this week, CBS announced that the juicy procedural, led by Morena Baccarin, would be returning for a second season, and we can hardly contain our excitement!
“Two new shows on Friday night have become instant hits, with audiences quickly embracing Boston Blue and Sheriff Country across broadcast and streaming,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, in a press release. “These early renewals reflect the power of character-driven storytelling, compelling narratives and the exceptional talent on both sides of the camera that make these series truly stand out.” Here, we share everything we know so far about Sheriff Country Season 2.
What’s ‘Sheriff Country’ about?
Sheriff Country follows Mickey Fox, portrayed by Morena Baccarin, who works as a sheriff in California’s Edgewater County. Fox might be familiar to some, as her character was first introduced in Fire Country, the gritty action-drama series that follows the brave firefighters who go up against California’s relentless wildfires. Diane Farr takes the lead in Fire Country as Sharon and Mickey was introduced as her stepsister.
If Mickey’s job as sheriff wasn’t tough enough thanks to the colorful residents of her community, the leading lady has also had to grapple with her complicated family dynamic, specifically involving her daughter and marijuana-growing father.

What will ‘Sheriff Country’ Season 2 be about?
Because the first season of Sheriff Country is still unfolding, there’s no saying what the second season might hold. So far, in Season 1, Mickey has gone up against her fair share of drama. Between tense cases and complicated family dynamics, the storylines thus far have kept fans pulled in—so it’s no surprise that they’re chomping at the bit for what’s to come! “Sheriff Country is actually great. Fun show. The dad is a treat,” wrote one Reddit user. “Yay, Sheriff Country! I’m enjoying it a bit more than Fire Country right now, tbh,” revealed another.
And the show’s fans aren’t the only ones excited about what’s to come! Christopher Gorham, who plays Travis in Sheriff Country, took to Instagram to share his excitement over a second season. “Honored and thrilled to announce that Season 2 of Sheriff Country has been greenlit! Thank you to the amazing writers, cast and crew for all the hard work you put in to bring Edgewater to life! And thank YOU for watching. More Sheriff Country to come,” he wrote.

When will ‘Sheriff Country’ Season 2 premiere?
Since the first season of Sheriff Country is still in progress, the exact premiere date for Season 2 hasn’t been announced yet. According to the press release, fans can expect the new season to arrive sometime in 2026 or 2027. That means there’s still plenty of time to enjoy every twist and turn in Mickey Fox’s story—and lots to look forward to. Mark your calendars—this is one renewal you won’t want to miss!
