Despite his skills in the medical field, he develops a fear of blood, therefore forcing him to step away from surgery and take on a position as a general practitioner in this small community—and though his prickly, socially awkward demeanor might act as a bit of a shield and his bedside manner is enough to push the townspeople away, he eventually becomes an integral part of the community. 2. ‘Lark Rise to Candleford’ (2008—2011)

Also following a similar structure to All Creatures Great and Small as well as Doc Martin, Lark Rise to Candleford tells another fish-out-of-water type of story. Laura Timmins says goodbye to her life in Lark Rise to begin a fresh start with a new job in Candleford, and her journey is anything but straightforward as she adjusts to her new setting, new community and new chapter. In The Durrells in Corfu, a widowed mom to four kids uproots their lives in England to relocate to the island of Corfu. 5. ‘Land Girls’ (2009—2011)

Land Girls chronicles the lives of a group of women who, in the midst of war, have joined the Women’s Land Army and are assigned to the pasture farm at the Hoxley Estate. Putting in hard work day after day to do their part while the men are off fighting, they form bonds and relationships as well as share experiences they never expected.
