Sometimes the hardest part about loving a TV show is knowing when to say goodbye. After eight incredible seasons of laughter, heart and the kind of neighborly love we all crave, CBS’s The Neighborhood is preparing for its final bow this fall. While it’s bittersweet to see Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs and the entire beloved cast wrap up their story, there’s so much to celebrate about this amazing journey—and plenty to look forward to in their farewell season.

What to know about ‘The Neighborhood’ Season 8: Max Greenfield’s final journey

The Neighborhood is a family-friendly sitcom that follows the Johnson family (Greenfield and Behrs) after they move to their dream home—which just happens to be in a predominantly black neighborhood. In the eighth season specifically, things begin with the Johnsons and the Butlers (Arnold, Cedric The Entertainer and McKinney) dealing with something they never saw coming.

“The truth of the matter is this will be our eighth and final season. When you look around, there’s no shows that go eight seasons anymore and there may never be another one. We might be the last one,” Greenfield told US Weekly earlier this year. “So I’m genuinely not sad at all that this is ending and feel so grateful for the eight seasons that we were given.”

“We’ve been through so much together. This show has made it through a pandemic. This show has made it through multiple writers and actor strikes. It’s been a real rollercoaster,” he continued. “To have made it this far and to be in the position we’re at is just such a wonderful gift, and the ability to say goodbye in the way that we all want to, it is great. So I’m really excited to have a fun last season where everybody knows what the fate of the show is and have a good time with the people that I have already had such a good time with for the last seven plus years.”

‘The Neighborhood’ Season 8 cast: Which guest stars are joining the final season?

Along with the five cast members mentioned above, several have teased what celebrities they want to have as guest stars as things end.

“Season 8, we’re going to turn it up. I’m definitely going to work hard to bring my dog, Steve Harvey, onto the show at least once. Got to bring my brother Anthony Anderson onto the show. I’ve had so many of my great friends there. There have been talks to bring Kat [Dennings] on for Beth and then I had Martin [Lawrence] come by to see Tichina [Arnold] and direct an episode this year. And I had him come by and say hello to her. So, maybe we can get Terry Crews to pop on for Tichina. I’d love it,” Cedric The Entertainer told TV Insider in May of this year.

“And then there’s been a couple of talks for the people, all from New Girl [which Greenfield starred in]. So we don’t know who can come by, but we’d love that, mixing and matching where people stop by. When Garrett [Morris, who worked on 2 Broke Girls with Behrs] was on the show, there was a little funny line at the end where he looked at Beth and said, ‘Do I know you from somewhere?’ It was kind of cute.”
