Meet Adam Sanders: ‘The Road’ Finale Winner Blake Shelton and Keith Urban Crowned Country’s Next Star
After 10 weeks on the road, this underdog singer won it all—and his journey will inspire you
Taylor Sheridan’s hit singing competition show The Road finally announced its winner, and it’s someone no one saw coming. After a tough night of competition, hosts and judges Blake Shelton and Keith Urban announced that Cassidy Daniels and Channing Wilson were eliminated, meaning that Adam Sanders won it all. To learn more about the finale, Sanders keeps scrolling!
Meet the finalists
After nine weeks of competition, live shows and life on the road, Sanders, Daniels and Wilson made it to the finals. All of them are talented and ready to become the next big thing in country music, but sadly, only one can take home the prize during next week’s Season 1 finale. Here’s everything we know about them so far.
Adam Sanders: the comeback country singer at 37

Sanders is a 37-year-old country music singer, and while he has had some hits in the past, none of them have made him a star. He is hoping that The Road will change that.
Cassidy Daniels: the 26-year-old rising star

Unlike Sanders, Daniels is really new to the country music game. She is 26-years-old and was raised in Kentucky. On The Road fans fell in love with her thanks to her bubbly personality, stellar vocals and unmatched stage presence.
Daniels is the youngest of the finalists, but given that Shelton once called her one-of-a-kind, saying, “I can’t think of anyone to compare her to” in country music, we think she’s going to be one to watch in next week’s competition.
Channing Wilson: the 49-year-old who says this is his ‘last chance’ for country fame

Wilson is a 49-year-old singer/songwriter who has worked with Tyler Farr, Riley Green and Luke Combs. He has also released the 2023 album Dead Man, but it never took off the way he hoped it would. He is now competing on The Road, hoping to become the next big thing in country music.
“I definitely have a secret weapon when it comes to performing solo. I write songs that I can sing. Just me and a guitar,” Wilson revealed in the first episode. “When I started doing this, there was no roadmap for me. I kept grinding into my 30s. I am 49 now and still getting it.”
“The music business is definitely not a joke. I have been told ‘no way’ more than I have had a phone ring in my hand. I am the oldest on the show. This is my last chance. What is at stake? Everything,” he continued.
Meet ‘The Road’ winner Adam Sanders
After 10 weeks of competition, live shows and life on the road, Sanders, Daniels and Wilson made it to the finals. All of them are talented and ready to become the next big thing in country music. Still, sadly, after a fierce round of competition, Shelton and Urban announced that they actually had no say in the winner and it would all be decided by audience votes.
In third place was Daniels, in second was Wilson—who many people thought was going to win—and in first was none other than Sanders.
“It felt like I was living in a dream, to be honest with you,” Sanders told American Songwriter after being announced as the winner. “We get told so many times in this business, ‘No. Not right now. It’s not your time. It’s someone else’s time. That song’s good, but this other artist sounds better singing it.’ We get overlooked. It felt good to finally be the one that someone looked at and said, ‘It’s your turn.’”
Prior to winning The Road, Sanders spent his time singing, songwriting and opening for other artists.

“My childhood idol growing up was Alan Jackson by far. As a little kid, I idolized him, and there’s no way that I would be in music without Alan Jackson. When I got into my middle school age and high school years, I was just a typical teenager, just like everyone else. I was listening to MTV and Carson Daly,” he told Woman’s World earlier this year. “I still love country music, but kind of experimented with a lot of different genres of music. The Band Camino is a big influence of mine, but like I said, country is always going to be sort of the roots of my music.”
Because of that love, Sanders decided to audition for The Road, which he says was “an amazing experience.”
“I’m just very grateful for the opportunity, but it was a whirlwind,” he continued. “It was something that just felt right for me and my spirit, from day one when I got asked to be a part of this show. I can honestly say that I never really had much ambition to do any kind of singing competition show, but given the structure of this one, it just felt right for me.”
“Keith, Blake and Taylor gave us all a sense of validation,” he continued. “Those are the people that you look up to and where you want to be in your career. For me to sort of be in the same room as those caliber of artists and producers, it’s just something that I feel helped me sort of strive to be to their level.”
What does ‘The Road’ winner get?
Now that Sanders has won The Road, he will get $250,000, a recording contract and a performance slot on the iconic Mane Stage at Stagecoach Country Music Festival in 2026.
“I’ve always sort of said that I love to perform in all different aspects of shows, but, for me, give me the biggest stage and the biggest crowd ever and that’s where I feel the most at home,” he told American Songwriter. “And so to perform at a show like Stagecoach, it’s going to be a dream come true. I’m really going to relish it when that time comes.”
Past that, Sanders said he has “no idea what is next for me.”
“I’m just taking this day by day as it comes and just trying to do my best to live in the moment and be in the present time,” he continued. “I’m trying not to steer the ship and letting the good Lord lead me where he wants me to go.”
