After nine insane episodes of television, Season 2 of Taylor Sheridan’s hit Texas based oil drama Landman is officially ending. But, before you sit down on Sunday night to view what’s sure to be an unforgettable episode, you might want to remember what has happened to the Norris family thus far. Keep scrolling to learn more.

After working alongside Cami Miller (Demi Moore) through the season, Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) gets fired from M-Tex Oil. It’s a shocking end to his character’s career and is definitely going to be a huge topic in the Season 2 finale.

When discussing his characters journey with Woman’s World earlier this year, Thornton said, “Taylor knows what he’s going to do with each season in any of his shows, so a lot of that was about, ‘Let’s set up the world, show these crazy characters,’ and in Season 2, now you are going to get to know them. You see that Tommy actually wants to be a good father. He wants to have a father. You see all of it. It’s a very emotional season in a lot of ways, but still with a lot of humor.

Speaking of being a good father, another part of Tommy’s Season 2 storyline revolves around him bonding with his two kids and his ex-wife Angela (Ali Larter). Currently, the two are in a good place, but who knows what’s going to happen in the finale—probably a dinner party that ends with them throwing food, if we had to guess.

“It’s a logistical nightmare for the prop department, but we’re fine. We go have a donut,” Thornton said. “But those scenes are a lot of fun. I love doing them. I’ve enjoyed every family dinner, even though as a character I don’t.”

Who is your favorite Norris family member?

Ainsley and Angela Norris go to college

Season 2 of Landman opened with Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) interviewing for Texas Christian University (TCU). She eventually gets in, and spends a lot of her time preparing to become a cheerleader there. This plotline is then explored in the ninth episode, when Ainsley actually heads to TCU for a week-long cheer camp. Angela goes with her, and eventually the two end up discussing if the mother can join her daughter on campus in the fall. Could that be a Season 3 plotline? Only time will tell!

Copper Norris and Ariana get engaged

In Season 2, everyone’s favorite star-crossed lovers, Cooper Norris (Jacob Lofland) and Ariana (Paulina Chávez), get engaged. They appear to be happy, but in the penultimate episode, Ariana is working at The Patch and gets attacked. A violent customer pins her down and tries to sexually assault her, Cooper eventually shows up and saves her, but viewers don’t get to see what happens after that.

“I let myself be in the moment, and allowed myself to be terrified. I needed a minute after that first take of my shirt being ripped and my pants being pulled down,” Chávez told The Hollywood Reporter of the scene. “Your body doesn’t differentiate between what’s real and what’s fake. Not a lot of people realize that’s the hardest part of acting—having to tell your body, ‘Hey, you’re fine.’ Your body carries a lot of trauma.”

“I did talk with Taylor, and he was, like, ‘We’re not going to do anything you’re not comfortable with,’ and he also said we’re going to shoot in sections and that I’d be working with the stunt department. He said, ‘We’re going to choreograph it and make sure that you feel safe and comfortable with all of the movement,’” the actress continued. “My biggest question for Taylor for that episode was, ‘Why do I keep calling him [the attacker] a stray dog? Like, can we chill on that?’ Maybe I blocked it out, but I don’t remember being scared about the scene. I was scared about if I was going to be able to portray it to the best of my ability, and the scariest part for that scene was when we cut to the tackle and we did the shirt rip [of Ariana’s shirt].”

T.L goes to physical therapy

A lot of T.L’s (Sam Elliott) journey in Season 2 has revolved around him sitting at the house and staring at things, In episode nine however, he gets a “physical therapist” who, despite being a lot younger than him, seems to be romantically interested in him. Could T.L finally get a second shot at love? We will see.

‘Landman’ Season 2 finale air time
