Outlander fans have been counting down the days until the premiere of Outlander: Blood of My Blood for months now. The prequel to the Starz original series based on the novels by Diana Gabaldon will dive into the love stories of those who came before Claire and Jamie, the two characters at the forefront of Outlander, and it seems as though the anticipation of the prequel’s premiere garnered enough hype for Starz to go all in: Outlander: Blood of My Blood, has been renewed for Season 2 before we’ve even seen the first season, set to premiere on August 8! What is ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ about?
If you’re familiar with the world of Outlander and the fans that have supported the show for years, then you know that “loyal” is hardly a strong enough word to describe the viewers who have tuned in season after season. That being said, when news first broke that a prequel would be heading our way, fans could hardly contain their excitement! Outlander tells the story of a woman named Claire, who, while on a post-war vacation with her husband after serving as a nurse in WWII, finds herself transported to 1743 Scotland, leaving her old life behind. While on the other side, she meets the dashing and brave Jamie Fraser, and soon enough, she’s torn between her old life and husband and that in which she finds herself trapped.
The show is a fan favorite for many reasons, as it combines elements of history, romance, drama and action, and with the show set to conclude with the upcoming eighth season, knowing that a prequel is on the way was enough to make us dry our tears. Outlander: Blood of My Blood tells the story of Claire’s parents, Julia and Henry, as their love unfolds against the backdrop of WWI, and that of Jamie’s parents, Brian and Ellen, as they fall in love in 18th century Scotland—and we already know that two seasons are in store!
When does ‘Blood of My Blood’ premiere?
The series will premiere its first season on August 8, with new episodes dropping each Friday, and since we have yet to see how the debut season unfolds, it’s hard to predict what is to come in Season 2! However, if it’s anything like the show that precedes it, we can assume romance, drama and bravery won’t be in short supply.
