Very Berry Sangria
Adding cherry brandy to the combination of red wine and strawberries gives this drink an extra fruity kick — and a splash of citrusy soda makes it sparkle.

Ingredients
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 sprigs fresh mint + additional
- 1 (750 ml.) bottle red wine, such as Merlot
- 1/2 c. cherry brandy
- 1 pint strawberries, trimmed and sliced (about 2 cups)
- 1 (12 oz.) can lemon-lime soda, chilled
Instructions
PrintIn small pot, combine sugar, 2 mint sprigs, and 1/2 cup water; over medium heat, cook, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves, about 3 min. Remove from heat; let sit until flavors blend, 5–7 min. Strain; cool.
In large pitcher, combine mint simple syrup, wine, brandy, and sliced strawberries. Cover and chill at least 4 hrs. or overnight. Add soda. Divide sangria among wine glasses; garnish with fresh mint sprigs. Serve immediately.
