‘She’s Such a Snuggly Pookie-Head’: Ree Drummond Shares Baby Sofia’s First Easter on the Ranch

Ree admits she struggled to keep things simple when it came to Sofia’s bunny-themed gifts!

It was a family-filled weekend on the Drummond ranch, where Baby Sofia spent her first Easter with mom and dad Alex and Mauricio, grandparents Ree and Ladd, Aunt Paige and soon-to-be Uncle David as well as Uncle Bryce. Ree—who had been counting down the days until her grandchild visited for the holiday—made sure to document the love fest and share photos and favorite moments on The Pioneer Woman. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights!

Ree Drummond gets an Easter visit from granddaughter Sofia

“Well, hello Sofia Marie Scott!,” Ree captioned the first photo in her latest blog post, which showed the four-month-old bundle of joy being held by mom Alex and looking at the camera.

Sofia, Alex and Mauricio arrived the Wednesday evening before Easter, Ree said, so she had a nice long weekend with her eldest daughter and her family.

Ree wrote: “Sofia had changed so much since I last saw her almost a month earlier…and by the way, a month is way too long and I’m never doing that again!”

Ree also shared photos of Sofia with her Aunt Paige, whom she sees more often than Ree, since Paige spends part of her time in Dallas, where Alex, Mauricio and Sofia live.

Paige had been working cattle on the ranch Thursday morning, Ree added, so she spent her break doting on her niece.

“Did I mention Paige can’t get enough of Sofia? I can relate! Poor baby has no personal space, haha,” said Ree in the next photo of Paige giving Sofia kisses.

While Ladd, Paige and the rest of the kids worked cattle on the ranch in the mornings, Ree and Alex spent time with Sofia. Her grandpa Ladd would come in anytime he got a break and tickle her, Ree said, adding that her husband does the same thing to her every day.

Paige’s wedding plans and Ree’s dress try-on session

Paige and her fiancé, David Andersen, will be getting married on the ranch in about a month. So while she had both of her girls home, Ree tried on a handful of potential mother-of-the-bride dress options.

“I got Sofia, Paige, Alex and my sister Betsy to weigh in on their top choice,” she said. “I think we have a winner, though I reserve the right to change my mind at the last minute as I did at Alex’s wedding!”

David also spent Easter with the Drummond family, so the group spent plenty of time chatting about the future nuptials. Ree did note that while the couple adores Sofia, Paige and David are in no rush to have kids of their own. Right now, they’re simply looking forward to finally living together once they’re husband and wife!

“We were so glad David, Paige’s husband-to-be, joined us for the weekend,” said Ree. “He and Paige are getting so excited about their wedding next month. So far I’m feeling calm, cool, and collected! (Remind me I said this in about three weeks!) I’m in disbelief that time has moved so quickly since their engagement last August, and I’m excited about another wedding on the ranch! (Again, remind me that I said this in about three weeks…)”

Ree says she ‘didn’t know how to ease into’ Easter gifts

On Easter Sunday, the family went to mass at the same church the Drummond kids have always gone to throughout their childhood, and Sofia did splendidly, raved Ree. Alex, Mauricio and Sofia arrived a few minutes late and sat a few rows in front of the rest of the crew, Ree noted, which worked out perfectly since she was able to stare at her grandbaby during mass!

“Yes, I still get the grown kids easter baskets (personalized totes this year! These are from L.L. Bean and my friend Haley got them personalized for me locally), but theirs were slightly overshadowed by Sofia’s pile,” Ree captioned a photo of stuffed bunny rabbits among other goodies. “It’s my first grandchild, okay? I didn’t know how to ease my way into this!!”

Ree also included snaps of Sofia adorably enjoying plush bunnies (including one twice her size!) and holding her new pink bunny blanket embroidered with her name. She also noted that while a baby’s favorite items are unpredictable, she’s hopeful that Sofia’s bunny blanket will be a top contender!

Of course, while there were many special moments and memories made this Easter season at the Drummond ranch, for new grandma Ree (or ReeRee as she’s been nicknamed), time spent with Sofia takes the top spot.

“She’s such a snuggly pookie-head,” Ree gushed about Sofia in a caption of one of the many sweet pictures of the two snuggling. “My favorite moments over the weekend were these.”
