Since then, he has built one of TV’s most enduring careers with roles in projects including Body Heat (1981), Three Men and a Baby (1987), Becker (1998–2004), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2011–2015), The Good Place (2016–2020) and Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000–2024).
In A Man on the Inside, Danson stars as Charles, the retired professor who takes on an unlikely undercover assignment inside a retirement community. He is expected to reprise the role when the series returns for Season 3.

Mary Elizabeth Ellis is a familiar face to television audiences thanks to roles on Perfect Couples (2010–2011), New Girl (2011–2014), The Grinder (2015–2016), Santa Clarita Diet (2017–2019) and the long-running comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005–2025). She also made a memorable appearance in Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” music video in 2022.
On A Man on the Inside, Ellis plays Emily, Charles’ daughter, whose relationship with her father is an important part of the series’ emotional core. She is expected to return for Season 3
“A Man on the Inside has been so much more than just a job. It was the absolute most fun to shoot, because the cast is so incredible. Every time I read a script, I was, like, ‘Oh my god, this is so good,’” Ellis told Woman’s World in 2024. “It was such a joy to turn up every day on set and have Ted set the tone for the day, because he’s so kind. He’s so generous. He shows up having all his stuff unlocked, which is incredible because the man’s in his 70s, and he has a lot to say in the show.”
Ellis is 47 years old and has been married to Charlie Day since 2006. They have one child together.
Lilah Richcreek Estrada as Julie
Although she may be one of the newer faces in the cast, Lilah Richcreek Estrada has already appeared in projects including Dave (2020), The Wonder Years (2022) and Chicago Med (2022–2025). On A Man on the Inside, she portrays Julie, a private investigator who becomes one of Charles’ closest allies. Fans will likely see more of that partnership when the series returns for Season 3.
“[Ted Danson’s] just really easy to work with because there’s no ego. We’re all equals. We’re all trying to make a show here and have fun while doing it,” Richcreek Estrada told Woman’s World last year. “It’s easy fun and the chemistry is there. And now that we’re friends in real life, I feel like that translates to what you see on screen this season.”

Since A Man on the Inside is a procedural, the production tends to get new cast members each season. All of Season 1 is at the foundation of Season 2, and 1 and 2 will be at the foundation of Season 3.”
