‘Anna Pigeon’ Episode 1 recap

Anna Pigeon begins with the mysterious death of Sheila Drury, a ranger at Glacier National Park. When Sheila is discovered, she has a wound that looks to be a cougar bite—though Anna knows better than to take this at face value. Suspecting foul play, she calls in reinforcements, but her investigation leads her down a dangerous path.

In Anna’s pursuit of the truth, she discovers Sheila’s backpack. Finding it to be missing essentials like a water bottle and knowing she would never leave without one, Anna starts connecting the dots. Signs point toward Cory—a protestor Sheila had previously gone head-to-head with—but when he’s discovered dead, he’s ruled out. As Anna’s pursuit of the truth continues, it becomes increasingly clear that someone doesn’t want her to discover it—for a trap sends her over the edge of a cliff, clinging for dear life. After Anna’s near-death-experience, she’s met with Christina, a woman Sheila used to date who helps give her access to Sheila’s phone. Unlocking it, she discovers a photo of none other than Jeremiah Paulson, a wealthy businessman, as well as coordinates. The coordinates lead her to the true suspect, Harlan, another park ranger who was helping Anna look into Sheila’s death. Anna ultimately learns that Harlan was working with Jeremiah, allowing the millionaire to hunt in the park in exchange for payment. When Sheila discovered this, he killed her.

Season 3 of Taylor Sheridan’s hit show Lioness: Special Ops is officially underway, and it’s been explosive to say the least. But is that explosiveness going to continue for a fourth season? Below we share everything we know so far about Lioness Season 4, including why one cast member says that fans aren’t going to want it to end once they see the finale. 

First, what is ‘Lioness?’ 

Lioness: Special Ops is a military show centered around CIA operative Joe McNamara (Zoe Saldaña) and her team. They solve crimes, protect our country and engage in battles, all while trying to protect themselves and their families. It’s based on a real U.S. military program from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and was co-created by Sheridan, actress Jill Wagner and her husband David Lemanowicz. 

“We came up with the idea in my backyard in Tennessee,” Wagner told Woman’s World earlier this year. “He [Lemanowicz] was the first person that told me about lionesses. I didn’t know they existed. Taylor has created this version of them that you see, but these women exist. There are b-d-ss women that go on these ops, and they do these jobs and we’re telling their story. They do exist, whether they’re called lionesses or not.”

The show currently has two complete seasons and is in the middle of airing its third. So far this season, Joe is attacked in her home by two agents of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), which is a direct result of the dangerous mission in Ukraine to capture a top Russian target. This season is also told in a dual timeline format, which is different from past seasons. 

“Every season is completely different. You think you know what you’re gonna see. You don’t. It’s completely different,” Laysla De Oliveira, who plays Jo’s colleague Cruz Manuelos in the show, previously told Woman’s World. “The mission’s really personal this year, and the stakes are really high because of that.” 

“But the amazing thing is that we know what we’re getting into, so we can prepare a little bit more. For me, this year was a challenge, but it was very exciting to see Cruz do things that I haven’t seen before, like smile, make jokes and explore more of her personal life,” she continued. “When I was reading those lines, there was a lot of, ‘How does my character say that? How is it so simple?’ It’s so simple, but playing something for two years in a certain way, and then all of a sudden you’re saying things you’ve never said before—how do you do that?”

Is ‘Lioness’ coming back for Season 4? 

As of publication, Lioness has not officially been renewed for a Season 4. That hasn’t stopped the cast from talking about it, though. In an interview with Screenrant, De Oliveira said that Season 3 “ends on a cliffhanger” and that fans “won’t want it” to end.

Wagner added to that saying that they “are going to get a Season 4.” 

“When people see what he [Sheridan] wrote for the finale, we are getting a Season 4,” she continued. “Or I will pay you $100.” 

As for what that cliffhanger will be, it’s anyone’s guess—but as long as it gets viewers, it’s safe to say fans will be thrilled if there is a Season 4.

What we know about Season 2 of ‘The Paper’ 

Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, The Paper expands the world of The Office beyond Dunder Mifflin, following a documentary crew as it turns its cameras on a struggling Midwestern newspaper. The connection between the two shows goes beyond their mockumentary style, with Oscar Nuñez reprising his role as Oscar Martinez from The Office. But more significantly, it brought together a whole new ensemble of charcters.

“It all felt very surreal,” Chelsea Frei, who plays Mare Pritti in the show, told Woman’s World last year. “I truly can’t even believe we’re here doing this.”

Another thing Frei probably couldn’t believe they were doing? Kissing! Season 1 ended with Mare finally kissing her boss, Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson), and judging by the newly released trailer, that moment was only the beginning. Their budding romance looks set to become a major part of the story when The Paper returns.

“We shot that ending like a million different ways,” she told Swooon in September of last year. “I didn’t even know that’s how it was going to be. There are versions where we didn’t kiss. [I think] they wanted to see how the season felt and where it went.” 

“I always say, and I think it’s true, that Mare and Ned just both want to make something amazing. Whatever their relationship ends up being or is right now, it’s almost a byproduct of this important thing to them, which is the paper.”

Also going to be a big part of Season 2? The awards the reporters won at the end the last season. Throughout the trailer viewers see Ned and the rest of the company’s executives pushing them to create even more award-winning content. During these exchanges it’s also brought up that they live in a small town—Toledo, Ohio—where there is not going to be life changing news every day. Well, minus the day that Adelola (Gbemisola Ikumelo) and Travis (Eric Rahill) decide to go chase down a tornado, which can be seen in the trailer. 

“I’m incredibly excited to get dubbed back in. It’s really nice to do something silly about journalism, which is a very serious thing,” Gleeson told Deadline in January of this year. “I think if we were doing a big paper, you would be getting into all sorts of stuff that would be difficult to talk about in any way that was funny. The fact that it’s a really local place, you can find the small things that mean bigger things. And in a way, that’s always the news that really matters—the one that’s just on your street. So yeah, we’re loving it. I’m very lucky to be a part of it.”

‘The Paper’ Season 2 cast

What to know about Jenna Bush Hager’s new show 

In May of this year, NBC announced that they would be releasing a new drama show called Line of Fire. It will follow the Hollingsworth family, who have ties to all the law enforcement agencies in Washington, D.C., including the FBI, U.S. Marshals, Secret Service and Department of Justice, after they are forced to come together to try and solve a deadly conspiracy that could threaten civilians and this country’s politicians. It was created by Joshua Safran and Bush Hager will serve as an executive producer on the show, which makes sense since she herself has experience dealing with those groups of people. 

“It really is super interesting because it kind of springs from some experience that I had, having Secret Service, which is that protective services do everything for other people and what does that do to your own family?” Bush Hager said on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle in May of this year. “It’s about a family of people that are in different branches of protective services, and there is this big mystery to it. But it’s also about when you sacrifice time with your own family to protect others, what does that do to you all?”

“It’s a family drama, but it’s like, to me, if Scandal and Six Feet Under kind of had a baby, but also with that really pulsive mystery,” Bush Hager added.

So far, the Line of Fire cast consists of Hope Davis, Kat Cunning, Tommy O’Brien, Taylor Bloom, Charlie Barnett and Peter Krause. Details on the actors’ roles in the show remain a mystery, but Krause, who most people know from the show Parenthood, did tease on The Today Show that his character Mike Hollingsworth will face some drama with his wife Jane (Davis) and his son Mike “Micah” Hollingsworth Jr. (O’Brien).

‘Ted Lasso’ Day is finally here! How to watch Season 4

August 5 has lovingly been dubbed Ted Lasso Day by fans in celebration of Season 4’s long-awaited arrival. Today, the first episode of the season arrived on Apple TV, and in total, Season 4 will consist of 10 episodes. Every Wednesday between now and October 7, a new episode will drop. In the fourth season, Ted tackles a new gig, leading a second division women’s soccer team. His unconventional yet effective methods are certain to leave their mark on this league of ladies, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the remainder of the season. 

Hannah Waddingham chatted with USA Today about the lesson to be learned from Season 4. “I think it’s not before time that women’s sports in general are focused upon. We need to fill those stadiums. We need to get kids—mostly young boys—to accept that a girl will kick around a ball with you or a girl will throw a hoop with you. That’s so important. And if this show is teaching us anything, it’s to all be equal. No one’s more important than anyone else.”

Jason Sudeikis similarly opened up to Deadline about what’s to come in Season 4, sharing, “Coaching women for the first time in his life…arguably, he has a complicated relationship with women. He’s certainly not practiced in mentoring and coaching. It’s similar to being a fairly new father of a young girl; you don’t necessarily know what to do, what you can do, what you’re allowed, what’s appropriate.” The actor continued, “Because I was once a boy and I’ve, at this point in this journey, not been a girl, I’m guessing a lot of times. Girls are very good at making you wonder while you’re guessing, which I appreciate at this point in my life. I think Ted, for a guy who lives in the questions, is getting answers from areas he never expected.”

The ‘Ted Lasso’ on-screen biscuits weren’t exactly gourmet

Early in the season, Jason Sudeikis’ character of Ted kicks off a daily tradition of “Biscuits with the Boss,” where he shares a delicious box of his confectionary masterpiece with the club’s owner.

If you’re anything like us, watching her character indulge in these buttery, sweet delights left you with a craving for these cookies, but according to Hannah Waddingham, who portrays Rebecca, they weren’t exactly the delicious bite they looked to be. 

“I did not enjoy every mouthful. They were chunky shortbreads that sucked all of the saliva out of my face when I was trying to act and talk at the same time,” Waddingham told Vulture. “I wish they were actual biscuits. I have no idea who made them! They weren’t inedible, but they weren’t like, ‘Yum yum yum, give the biscuits!’ If you love really sugary and buttery biscuits, you would’ve loved it. But no, not for me.” 

Later, Waddingham revealed to WXYZ-TV Detroit that her complaints were eventually heard and the recipe was improved upon in the seasons that followed. With that in mind, however, Waddingham recently shared that it isn’t biscuits or sweets that really do it for her, but rather the salty crunch of a potato chip. “I’ve got a terrible—I would call it a problem—with crisps,” she told Extra. “When I try to stop eating crisps, I’m a miserable cow,” she joked, revealing that grocery store brand salt and vinegar are her go-to. 

While Waddingham might be hitting up the chip aisle for her Ted Lasso watch party, we can’t help but feel that the buttery, crumbly sweetness of a biscuit pairs perfectly with this series. While there are plenty of premade options to choose from in the cookie aisle, we’ve gathered a few of our favorite Ted Lasso biscuit recipes you can make with just a few ingredients right from the comfort of your kitchen. 

‘Ted Lasso’ biscuit recipe

Apple TV shared the official Ted Lasso biscuit recipe with TODAY Food, and it’s much simpler than you’d think with just a short list of ingredients. 

• 2 cups of all-purpose flour 
• 2 sticks of unsalted butter at room temperature 
• ¼ teaspoon of coarse salt 
• ¾ cup of confectioners’ sugar 

As for executing this recipe, the instructions laid out by TODAY are as follows:

1. Preheat your oven to 300 F. 
2. Sift your flour and salt into a separate bowl and set to the side. 
3. On a high setting, mix your butter until light and fluffy for 3 to 5 minutes. From there, slowly add in your sugar while mixing until you achieve a pale color and fluffy consistency. 
4. Add flour mixture to the butter and sugar combination and mix.
5. Prep a square pan with butter and place your batter into the pan—no thicker than ½ inch. 
6. Allow the pan to rest in the refrigerator for at least a half hour. 
7. Cut into squares before baking in the oven, then allow them to bake for 45 to 60 minutes until they achieve a golden color and a firm feel. 
8. Cool the cookies and slice again if necessary. 

Though this might be the official recipe, several creators have shared their own versions and variations of the Ted Lasso biscuit recipe. For example, the Broma Bakery recipe utilizes vanilla and almond extract for a little extra element. Jessica Gavin’s recipe uses granulated sugar instead of confectioners’ sugar. Marie Saba’s recipe is another easy and delicious option.

Bear Grylls reveals what surprised him about ‘The Chosen’ cast

After years of taking celebrities and world leaders into extreme environments, Grylls expected the The Chosen cast to be challenged physically. What he didn’t anticipate was discovering just how deeply their roles and the show’s impact had actually shaped their lives.

“Out of all the different shows I’ve done, all of the cast of The Chosen were especially out of their comfort zone,” Grylls says. “They were all rookies in terms of that, and we went to some wild places. But even though they were nervous, they all had their hearts on their sleeves, and they had such incredible stories about how this show, The Chosen, has impacted and changed their life.”

For Grylls, those honest conversations became some of the most powerful moments of the series.

“I think I just wasn’t ready and didn’t expect that level of emotion from them. I’ve heard from a lot of stars about their movie roles, but this is different. This role for these actors has really impacted their lives. Some of it’s been a real battle, and I think that was really special.”

He also believes the series gives longtime fans a rare opportunity to truly know the people behind the beloved biblical characters.

“They got so many fans around the world. Some like 300 million viewers of The Chosen, and yet they don’t actually tend to know the actors as people very well,” Grylls says. “I think this has just been a beautiful way of getting to know these actors and hearing their stories. And that was a great privilege.”

Whether he’s navigating mountains, deserts or jungles, Grylls says one thing has remained constant throughout his adventures: his faith. It’s the foundation that steadies him, both in the wilderness and in everyday life.

“I think first of all, one of the reasons I’ve done this show, The Chosen in the Wild, is that faith has been a beautiful, empowering part of my life for many years. I’ve learned through many experiences, many jungles, deserts, mountains, that we all need something, you know. And like my Christian faith has been a real backbone and help through many of those moments, and every day.”
